Habit Tracking: Week 29 (July 14 - July 20)
I think I missed shark week (which was the week before this, I think?) But... sharks!
This week was... fine? I was relieved that jury duty wound up just being a mild inconvenience instead of a big problem. I did some things, like going on a walk in the xeriscape garden. I got some writing done, by starting the outlines/note sheets I've been wanting to do for a couple of months now. I also actually got an okay amount of reading in for the first time in a long time, it feels like. Despite all of that, the week kind of felt like... nothing. I think it's probably still the work stress. Summer is always busy, but this one is the worst I remember in terms of being understaffed and completely unable to keep from falling farther and farther behind.
Goals for the week:
- I did report for jury duty on Monday
- I still haven't set up my new phone. I always have to set up new devices like... under duress because an old one died, so I have such an automatically negative association with it that I think that's keeping me from being excited for it, even though it is a much nicer phone, in theory.
- I did read more of The Name of the Wind and am closing in on the last couple hundred pages
- I worked on my idea inventories
- I have not updated my tracker's reading page
Tracked habits:
- Work - 5/7
- Household Maintenance - 1/7
- Physical Activity - 1/7
- Wrote 500/1000+ Words - 4/7 - three days of over 1000 words, one day of over 500
- Wrote on 2nd+ Draft - 0/7
- Meta Work - 5/7
- Personal Writing - 3/7
- Other Creative Things - 2/7
- Reading - 6/7 - I read quite a bit of The Name of the Wind, and finally finished Clutch, which was the ebook I've been poking at since fucking January. (It was very mid.)
- Attention to Media - 7/7 - Sunday we watched the fairly okay horror Amelia's Children, and then rewatched Alien, because I'm excited for Romulus despite my better judgement; Monday we watched 6:45, which was a time-loop horror that was much better than I expected and had a bunch of details I appreciated; Tuesday we listened to Alex's stormchase livestreamers, and later Alex did put on a movie but I couldn't focus on it; Wednesday we watched After the Pandemic a very micro-budget horror that was not terrible, and then half-watched Invasion Planet Earth which was somebody's personal sci-fi project that was... not great; Thursday we watched The Legend of Lucy Keyes which felt painfully made-for-TV except I think there was too much swearing for that, and then half-watched Bad Building which was not great; Friday we watched Pulse, and seeing a "horrors of tech" film with stuff that looks so dated now is pretty funny; Saturday we half-watched the lousy Day of the Dead remake.
- Video Games - 0/7
- Social Interaction - 4/7
Total words written: 5310 primarily on note files and outlines of various fics
