Twitter is a mess, and also has a huge problem with bots manipulating stuff. People trying to grow audiences try to have a hot take on everything to grind engagement, and that is always going to backfire at some point.
I like it mostly as an info source, I guess. I haven't had any good social experiences there I can think of. I just follow people like John Rogers, local weather, bands, etc. Also if *things are happening* it shows on twitter first. Some photogs build a following there, I've never managed to get that going. Twitter is one of those places I've opted out of trying to build engagement, and part of why I have a photography website instead. The idea of 'doing fandom' on twitter is baffling and scary to me.
