I know I'm not the only one who feels like we should go back to the era where you had your own website and connected it to others via webrings and email groups. Everything was much more manageable then! There is a whole group trying to do this. They're called the Yesterweb, but ironically and badly for me, their meeting place is on Discord, and I just don't have the patience to deal with Discord. I have spruced up my own website, though, so if there's anything I really really don't want to lose, I put it on there.
