It was just an insultingly stupid morning, it felt like.
How much revision to give something is definitely a place where I struggle. I'm personally a lot happier doing at least one full rewrite, plus a general revision pass or two. That is also pretty time-consuming, and leads to a lot of things just remaining unwritten, because I don't want to invest that much time and energy into it unless it feels super worth it. Doing a challenge where I AM trying to write a short fic in just a day or two helps to kind of stretch my brain, both in terms of not overplanning and just writing, and in terms of accepting "good enough" instead of "as good as I can get it." (And keeping things short - I tend to mostly write long novella/short novel length stuff.) Even so, I DO have a minimum level of "good enough" that I'll accept, and sometimes something just isn't hitting it. I'm not writing fics that are going to change the world or redefine the fandom... but I'm not okay posting utter crap, either, haha.
