And then I was gushing blood. One day early this time, instead of four days late. Yuck.

My brain is all over the goddamn place today, and focusing on anything has been a struggle. I made it through the workday, but feel like I was a waste of space.

I'm a little excited, because my self-imposed month-long break from working on All Strange Wonders has passed! I can now start on the second draft (though we'll see how long it is before my enthusiasm dries up, lol.)

Last night I did have a night of just about nothing - I took some naproxen and turned the lights off and just laid in bed. We watched 6ish episodes of the second season of Two Sentence Horror Stories. I enjoy it - like the first season, part of the point of the series is to focus on stories about/written by/directed by POC and queer folks, and that all appeals to me. It's kind of like a less-gritty, more teenage-campfire-story kind of Black Mirror.

Tonight, I'm going to try and get caught up on DW, maybe take a bath to ward off some cramps, and then see if I can get my shit together enough to reorient myself in All Strange Wonders.

Ugh. That sounds horrible, but maybe one day early means you'll be through with it sooner. Another friend of mine in Kansas got hit with it, too, today, so I'm pretty sure that means Jean Grey will be coming for me soon. The bitch.

I might need to check out that Two Sentence Horror Stories. Currently, I'm rewatching Twin Peaks on Netflix (even though I own the DVDs) because I want something on I can watch but don't have to pay close attention to so that I can get some writing done.

Fingers crossed! I should at least be done my my birthday, which would be nice.

I enjoy Two Sentence Horror Stories! It's an anthology, so episodes vary in quality imo, but that's not always a bad thing. And it really does mostly remind me more of the kinds of scary urban legend or campfire stories that I remember from being a kid/young teen, though a lot have (what is to me, at least) an interesting cultural bent to them. It's not nearly as gritty or dark as things like Black Mirror, keeping it to PG-13 levels of blood and language, but some definitely tread around bigger cultural fears. (An episode that's about a contagious zombie-illness, but is *really* about the exploitation of warehouse workers by an online retailer ~~not Amazon~~. Or an episode about a monster preying on high schoolers, but it's *really* also about how automatic security systems can harm the people they're supposed to protect.) I should watch the first season again, because I don't remember it quite as well.

Twin Peaks is always worth a rewatch! And having something in the background that lets you work on writing is also always good.

I hope you're done by your birthday! Mine's a month away, and hopefully, I can get past my birthday before Jean Grey hits me up in April. I have things I want to do!

I'll have to check that out. I liked Black Mirror -- most of it -- so that should be an interesting watch at some point.
