Habit Tracking: Week 30 (July 21 - July 27)
One of the things that using stickers on my weekly layouts was supposed to do was give me a "safe" place to use the stickers I really like. I'm a sticker hoarder, and I never want to "waste" a sticker I really like, which means I never use any of them. The tracker was supposed to give me a place to use them! And yet, I've mostly remained utterly reluctant to use them at all.
BUT. This week I used a new sticker that I really liked. (This was admittedly slightly cheating, because I have the same design as a pin, and the sticker was a freebee along with it, but still.) It also wound up being a really appropriate sticker for the week, because then I wound up with Summer "Berry Mad" Refresher, the Woodhouse's toad.
This week was pretty good. We did more than nothing, and it was nice to get outside for at least one day. I am excited and happy about my new toad. I did get some writing done, and stayed on top of doing the check-in posts. I got some reading done (even if it wasn't the book I meant to be reading). There was more political upheaval, but it actually ended with a sense of actual hope, which is more than I can say for a long time, even if I'm afraid it won't stick. Work remains a huge drag, because we're so understaffed (apparently) that there's just... no way to keep from falling impossibly farther behind every single day, but I'm doing what I can.
Goals for the week:
- I remembered to host the week's check-in posts for WriteThisFanfic
- I did not read more of The Name of the Wind
- I did update my reading page in my tracker
- We did coordinate picking up models that a friend picked up at BreyerFest for us
- I still have not set up my new phone
- I did work on more fic outlining
- We went to the pet store for toad habitat supplies
- I got Summer "Berry Mad" Refresher's habitat set up
- I did not put my laundry away

I get being a sticker hoarder
It doesn't help that the moment I finally put a sticker on my car for the first time - the car was totaled. So this weird curse followed me into adulthood.
Stickers on my monitor or computer tower - replaced in a year. Sticker on a wallet - lost.
It's hard to let it sink in that this is the longest I have ever lived anywhere in my entire life and it's only been 14 years. I
I've been trying to overcome it. Any play tester name tags I get from Bethesda, I put on my studio computer now. Draw a line in the sand - as it were - with stickers.
I am here now.

Re: I get being a sticker hoarder
Lack of permanence is a definite Thing for me, having had a pretty tumultuous few years, and things still feel more precarious than I'm ever likely to be comfortable with.
There's the joke about how "pins are just stickers for people who can't commit" and that is genuinely part of why I think I do like enamel pins so much, haha. (But at the same time, I would never put them on something like a bag or a jacket that they could fall off of and get lost, lol.)
