Dad health thing this time...
After a couple mom health scares, now it's my dad with a problem. (Fortunately it isn't life-threatening, just crappy.)
The artificial lens in one of his eyes has ~detached~ and is now free-floating in his eye.
(Ick.)
This is not as terrible as the ~emergency retinal reattachment~ surgery that he had to have in both eyes a decade or so ago, but it's still eye surgery which is a big aaaaaaaaa from me.
He went in for a consultation on Monday, which he was hoping would mean surgery on Tuesday or Wednesday... instead they booked him for an additional appointment to do the needed measurements for a lens, and then didn't have an appointment for the surgery itself until April 8th. Which feels like a long time to go around with something like that.
I know he's had to cancel most of his music gigs and such because of it, though I think he kept one of them a few days ago. I don't know if he's able to go to his "regular" job at all.
Luckily the surgery center did have a cancellation, and now he's booked for April 2nd, which is better!
I'm sure I'll get all the gory details of what the surgery entails the next time I see him. I remember how horrifying every part of the retinal reattachments sounded and I hope this one is at least slightly less so.
Bleh.
