Mount Falcon Open Space Park
Today we actually went on a hike! Well, more of a walk, though even on the fairly slight inclines I got pretty winded, oof. I am woefully out of shape, but doing more stuff like this will help!
Mount Falcon has several nice trails up through forested mountain areas, but one of them goes by the ruins of the "Walker Castle", the remains of a neat old mansion.
My favorite two pictures above the cut, the rest below.

Cy, posed majestically in front of the distant mountains.

My favorite shot of the ruins. I like that you can really see the interesting shield shape of that window near the center.

Some nice white flowers.

And some blue ones!

Tent caterpillars. There were quite a lot of these guys around. I know they can be unfortunately destructive, but they're still kind of interesting.

The informative sign about the man who owned the Walker Castle, including a few pictures of the house. The house was built in 1909, and was unfortunately struck by lightning and burned down in 1918. The land that John Walker purchased wound up providing a lot of what became the county's open space park system.

The tallest part of the ruins is this chimney. There are multiple levels of fireplace.

(I like this view, too.)

The rounded corner of the house.

Some holly blooming by this window.

An interesting dead tree.

The view to the east. You can see Red Rocks Amphitheater in between the two trees near the middle.

View to the northwest, snow capped peaks.
It was a really nice (though short) hike, my issues with endurance notwithstanding.
We'd actually planned on going somewhere else, though our original destination doesn't allow dogs. But as we started getting ready to leave this morning, Cy had some digestive issues. We decided to go somewhere we could bring him along, since he seemed to feel fine otherwise, but we didn't want to leave him alone to explode in the apartment. Miraculously, as soon as he got to come along, he no longer had outdoor emergencies. *eyeroll* (He's got some serious separation anxiety.)
Unfortunately, I didn't sleep well, so I'm really tired, and not looking forward to my work week. I didn't get everything I'd hoped to done for the week, but... welp, we'll see if I get a second wind.

Those ruins look like a great setting for a tabletop adventure or a video game.

Oooh, they'd be a super fun setting for something like that!

Me too, it was a lot of fun!

Ruins are amazing: they're such a fantastic visual mix of deliberate and accidental/chaotic artistry, plus all the metaphorical and symbolic functions they serve. These and the church ruins in Maryland are my favorites that I've been able to visit.

Cy is adorable! What kind of pupper is he?

Cy is my best boy. He's a pit bull. :)
