Not quite the wildly productive day I'd been hoping for, but not nothing either.
I read a friend's fic, and then had a mildly lazy morning listening to music and poking at my Unconventional Courtship fic to try and reorient myself with what I'd written so far. (I'm actually fairly happy with it, which I was pleasantly surprised by.) I also got a few hundred new words.
Once Alex got back from taking care of the horses, we had some errands to run. The cottonwoods are very dramatically cottoning right now, so there are drifts of fluff in a lot of places near the parks.
When we got home, I sat down to write some more. It was slow going (and feels like most of what I spent the day doing), and I only got 1300 new words, but that's almost a third of what I've written on it so far, so I'm not terribly unhappy about that. I think I'm just one short scene away from the first chapter being done, and once I've got it polished up enough to be happy with, that means I've met the posting requirement for the challenge! (Since as long as we have a complete chapter that meets the 1000 word minimum, AND are sure we'll be able to finish the fic, we can post!)
Tentatively I'm thinking 4 chapters, maybe totaling around the 20k mark? Possibly less, but we'll see where it goes as I write. I do have a tentative 20-scene outline, but I always leave it open to at least a little flexibility. Also tentatively, I'm thinking "Connections of the Heart" as a title. It sounds romance novel-y, and also suits a plot point pretty well.
I think our plan tomorrow is to go to the zoo. It's supposed to be brutally hot, but I want to use that membership I bought, and I think it'll be easier than trying to hike. We'll hydrate and I'll use sunscreen, and we'll try to stick to shady areas.
