The model show went pretty well!
The judge for the bulk of Alex's entries was unfamiliar to us, so we didn't know what to anticipate from her. There were a few decisions of hers we didn't understand/agree with, but overall Alex did well - he came away with 24 NAN cards (cards given to the models that come in first or second in their divisions. Those cards qualify the model to compete at an annual national competition if desired in the next four years.)
Beyond that, it was nice to see everyone. It's more Alex's thing than mine, but having both of us there usually makes it go more smoothly.
It was a LONG day though.
As is typical for me, when I have to get up earlier than usual, I wake up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep. So I woke up sometime before 3, and then just stayed awake. We actually got up around 5, and loaded everything up to get on the road by about 6. We got coffee and made the long drive up to the Wyoming border. Saw some pronghorns! Had to take evasive maneuvers to avoid a mattress falling off the back of a truck! Saw all the fireworks stands and warehouses as soon as you cross the state line (most big fireworks are illegal in Colorado, but legal in Wyoming, so people buy them there to bring back to CO), including ones with billboards directly attacking competitors, lol. We got to the show hall just after 8, and weren't done until after 6:30 in the evening. Lots of walking back and forth all day, too. Finally got home around 9, unloaded the truck, and now I am ready to go the hell to sleep.
Hopefully I get enough rest to feel caught up for tomorrow at work/tomorrow going out after/Monday with Taylor.
