Day 2 of NaNo + sick
Day two of NaNo - still on pace, 1760 words today!
I know that usually it's encouraged to try and get as many words as possible in the early days, using the new project energy to get a word count buffer. While I've hit over on both days so far, I haven't *really* pushed for a ton extra. This is the part of the story I have fairly well mapped out, and I don't want to get to more unknown parts too quickly, haha.

Unfortunately, the sore throat got way worse overnight - even woke me up in the middle of the night. It's still the scratchy type rather than the swollen type, which is a minor favor, but it feels like I swallowed sandpaper, and I can't get any real relief. Hot liquids are soothing, but just bring it down to "mild annoyance" from "actively horrible", and as soon as I'm done swallowing, the relief is gone.
(I am extra whiny about sore throats. I genuinely would rather deal with almost any other symptom.)
-
Apparently two of my coworkers who report to my same manager were having meltdowns last night/today about the vaccine mandate. (Getting closer to that requirement that companies with 100+ employees have vaccination records OR weekly Covid tests.) One was pulling the "THIS IS A HIPPA VIOLATION!" thing (it's not.) The other took a half day due to "mental health" because this was so stressful.
I'm trying REAL hard to dredge up some sympathy, but I really... just don't have any. Get the fucking shot. If you won't get the fucking shot, then deal with the weekly testing. You do in fact have a choice. Stop being a fucking plague rat.
My manager has her fourth interview for a new job on Thursday. I will hate to see her go, and feel like our whole center (and group of centers that she manages) are about to just absolutely fall the fuck apart. She's been a *good* manager, in that she's tried to let most of what I do play to my strengths. But I also really hope she gets this job that pays half again as much as her current position does, without all the bullshit she deals with.
The database is still down. It's now been four full days.

I did find out I still have two days worth of specific sick time (HWT), so I think I'm going to stay home tomorrow, because I feel miserable.
-
Even feeling crappy, we did go drop our ballots off. Hooray for participating in the democratic process. Just got the text that my ballot was accepted.

We did get crickets for BCB!

That is sooooooo not a HIPPA violation. Oh gods. They need to shut the fuck up and get the vaccine. I'm so fed up with people acting like this is a violation of their freedums. Public school students are required over a period of several years from kindergarten to graduation to get vaccines or they don't get to go to school. When I went to college, there were requirements for students under a certain age (I was old enough that I wasn't required to because it wasn't a threat to me apparently, so I didn't) to get vaccinated against meningitis. If you don't get vaccinated, you don't go to class. No one bitches about that. Trump made it political and therefore all of his idiots have made it about politics, so there are dumbfuck people running around like they're William Wallace or something. I hate this country.

But oh god, that sounds horrific! If I had to deal with my period at the same time, I'd be thinking about jumping off the roof lmao.
Nope! It's not a HIPPA violation at all! I am so sick of the free-dumbs excuse. I always had to get my jabs for school! (Though CO has a "religious beliefs" exception, which a lot of anti-vax dipshits abuse.) I had to get the meningitis vax and present my other vax records for college.
I hate this country and all the asshole idiots who have decided that getting and spreading preventable diseases will own the libs or whatever. I'm sick of it, and my well of sympathy has run dry.

I hate sore throats!
Yes, get the damned shot! I don't have to work with the 'plague rats', but I have no shits to give for their whining, either.
I hope you feel better after taking the day off.

My sympathy has been depleted to zero. I *tried* to be understanding about one of them - she's planning on/excited about having kids soon, and her super anti-vax husband told her that the covid vaccines cause infertility. Even though that's not true and is just more scaremongering, there's just not a way to convince her that it's worth the imagined risk. But like... you HAVE an alternative - getting weekly tests. Annoying? Sure. But if you don't want to do that, get the fucking shot and stop listening to FreedomEagle88 on youtube or whatever.
I did take the day off, but unfortunately don't feel much better. :(

I'm sorry your throat hurts. That sucks.

I hate being sick, and sore throats most of all. It's extra insulting when I've still been masking up every time I go somewhere in public!
