Day 4 of NaNo - Still sick!
I still feel like ass! Not really worse than yesterday, though overnight was rough. My fever went up - 99.6 at the highest according to our thermometer. Though given that I read a pretty consistent 97.7 when I'm not sick, I think it runs a wee bit low, so it was probably higher than that.
I also kept getting up to try and find something that would help my throat, because it hurt so much it was keeping me awake. Nothing helped, though. Cold hurts, hot hurts a bit less but no longer soothes, anything even slightly acidic (like my attempt with apple cider) hurts. Honey feels okay to swallow, but the relief doesn't last. I just could not sleep, so I wound up dicking around on my phone and listening to so much Forensic Files.
Finally at 7 I texted my manager and called out again. Then I did sleep for a few hours, until Alex got up to go ride. (Which seemed to suck, as his neck started doing its vasovagal problem thing.)
I stayed in bed the whole damn morning and afternoon, though I didn't really sleep much. Tried, but couldn't stay asleep. I also couldn't *do* anything. My focus is shot, so I couldn't even try to read or watch anything.
Felt a wee bit better for a short burst at the end of the afternoon, but then went downhill again. Lost my appetite - could only manage about half a plate of the chicken and zucchini that Alex made, and usually that's something I will happily eat loads of.
I also now have a cough, mostly related to the throat irritation. (I scheduled a Covid test for Monday, which was the soonest I could get. I HOPE I don't have a bullshit breakthrough case, and I know there's been other crud going around. It's more likely I have what work friend had.)
I may call out again tomorrow, though I told my manager I'd wait and see how I feel in the morning. I can't remember the last time I called out for this many days in a row. :/

NaNo day 4: 1859 words! I'd hoped that with the day away from work I could build up a bit of a cushion, but instead it was a fight all the way, and I didn't even start poking at it until after 5:00. :/

I'd be sucking throat drops and spraying like crazy!
(I used to love watching Forensic Files!!)
I hope you feel better today!

Definitely been using lozenges and chewing minty gum for the same cooling effect.
Alex and I fall asleep to Forensic Files literally almost every night, haha. Peter Thomas just has such a soothing voice, even when he's describing horrible murder!
Still feeling cruddy, but really don't want to take another day off work. Ugh.
