Day 9 of NaNo + the continued illness from hell
Day 9 of the sick, and it's STILL NOT GETTING BETTER.
Last night overnight, some of the fluid moved into both of my ears, to the point I was genuinely near tears from the pressure/pain. I kept getting up, tried compresses, drank fluids, etc. - all the stuff a google search suggested. Nothing really helped. I took more ibuprofin than I probably should have, and aimed for distraction until about 5:30 when the pain meds seemed to kick in and I fell back asleep.
It's not as painful now, though both ears still make delightfully gross crackly fluid noises, but it feels like I'm hearing everything through earplugs.
The cough is worse, and is slightly productive. Alex bought me some just cough syrup (instead of multi-symptom stuff), which does seem to help, but nothing makes it go away. At least one of the coughing bouts was bad enough he asked if I needed to go to the ER/Urgent Care.
Can't afford that, but I think I can do a teledoc appointment for free, so I might try to do that tomorrow. This is almost certainly a virus, so there's probably not much to do about it, but 9 days in with no improvement is getting real fucking old.
I was texting with my manager earlier, and she told me to take another day if I need it, so I probably will. I genuinely did NOT plan to be out this long. I worked two half-days over the weekend, but it's been MORE THAN A WEEK. THIS IS RIDICULOUS.
(And I'm so mad that this has knocked me out for two cheap movie days in a row. >:( I want so badly to see Last Night in Soho, and Alex and I also want to see Antlers. I'm afraid they aren't going to stick around long enough for us to see them when I'm well.)

(I don't know if this would help you, and maybe not at this point, but in the past when I've felt an ear ~something coming on, I've had my chiropractor yank on my ear. Literally. It hurts momentarily because he yanks pretty hard, but it's like he opens up the canal or something so it can drain?)

I did try moving my ears around, and pushing around them. It sometimes got the fluid to move a bit, but didn't get things to drain. I may not have been doing it right, though.
One of the meds I got is a steroid to bring down the inflammation, which should help things drain, now!
