Day 10 of NaNo + finally, some meds
I made a teladoc appointment this morning. First time I've ever used that particular feature, but it went pretty smoothly. The doctor was nice, and though the conversation was short and it was a pretty simple thing, I felt like he listened to me.
He wrote me three prescriptions: Medrol, a steroid to try and bring down inflammation; Tessalon, which is a cough suppressant; and Amox-clav (generic Augmentin), an antibiotic.
I wasn't sure they'd give me an antibiotic, since best guess was that this is probably a virus. BUT, he said with any illness that lasts more than a week, they worry about bacterial infection, and especially with the cough moving farther down in my chest, a short course of antibiotics is a good idea. (Alex has said he's worried about this turning into pneumonia, just because my cough has been so persistent the last several days, and it's definitely been bringing up fluid.)
I was super anxious about how much the prescriptions would cost, but for once insurance came through and was useful! It was only about $35 for all three, which is not an expense I was thrilled for, but isn't going to fuck us over, either. (Without insurance, it would have been $100+, and I recognize even that is nothing compared to what some shit costs.)
Even just starting the meds, I do feel better. The cough med definitely helped a lot! (And I'm due for another dose in about fifteen minutes, and boy can I tell the difference as it's wearing off.)

Doesn't it? The self-check voice went from saying "welcome, valued customer" to saying "welcome, loyal customer" a few months ago, and it strikes me as a bit ominous and weird there, too. Just the implication that there may be DISloyal customers" seems a little... bad cyberpunk.

Your loyalty is in question though. I mean, is it your loyalty to being gendered female? Or is it your loyalty to your health or your doctor or...I mean, what? What loyalty are they talking about? This is a strange new suspect thing about Big Pharma.

Right? I mean... I question my loyalty to being gendered female, let's be real. My maybe sort of agender/genderqueer ass just... kinda doesn't care. But like... what loyalty *are* we talking, here?
I mentioned above that the store's self-check changed from saying "welcome, valued customer" to "welcome, loyal customer" and that also made me side-eye a bit. The idea that I might be judged a "DISloyal customer" is a bit concerning, lol.
