Day 15 of NaNo + The Day of the Muskrats
I actually only woke up once due to coughing overnight! Hooray!
The cough was definitely better last night and today. Still present, but not as frequent as it has been.
Feeling slightly better, we went for a walk around Belmar Lake. (Probably some pictures later - didn't have time to sort through them today.) It was a nice day, close to 70°, though with pretty thick cloud cover. We saw a bunch of birds - mallards, geese, gulls, northern shovelers, hooded mergansers, mourning doves, crows, red-winged blackbirds, robins, flickers, a downy woodpecker, finches, chickadees, crows, a small hawk (maybe a sharp-shinned?) that came crashing through the trees and scaring everything else away...
But the thing the most notable in terms of wildlife? SO MANY MUSKRATS. I've seen muskrats over at Belmar before, but as something of a rarity. This time there were two separate muskrat "houses" (pretty similar to beaver dams, really), and we saw several muskrats swimming around near both of them. I've definitely never seen this many at one time or in one area! Honestly, I probably saw more today than I've EVER seen before.
UNfortunately, despite having felt much better for most of the day, within the last couple hours, a sore throat has slowly been working its way back to prominence. If this is the start of a new bug or a resurgence of the one I thought I was over, I am going to rage.
My manager officially submitted her resignation today. ;-;

Yay for being well enough to go on a walk! We have muskrats down at our pond and I've spotted some swimming around, but haven't been able to get a photo of them.
Bummer about your manager. I hope things go smoothly with her leaving. o_O

The cough is a wee bit worse today, but the sore through could just be irritation from that. I'm just kind of holding my breath to make sure it doesn't get *bad* again.
I think muskrats are cute when they swim! Little wiggly tails. I was amazed to see so many!
I hope so too. One instructor already resigned because he'd only stayed because of her, and a second asked to use her as a reference, so I hope he doesn't also bail! I feel like the company isn't prepared for how difficult it will be to replace her/everything she was doing.
