Day 25 of NaNo + Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving, however you celebrate or don't!

I definitely wasn't sad for a day off, even if I did work yesterday and am back tomorrow.

Alex and I are not big fans of Thanksgiving, but chances to make and eat a bunch of food are nice. So we made a fairly traditional spread of food: green bean casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce. We had a turkey ham, rather than cooking a whole turkey. It was much easier this year than the headache that the turkey was last year, haha. It was just the two of us, so we have miles of leftovers.

It was all delicious, and then I took a nap for a few hours, lol.

I AM feeling better! I think I only woke up four or so times last night with the cough, which is so much better than the night before, where I barely got any sleep at all. And throughout the day I have had a cough, but far less often or severely. Hooray for antibiotics, apparently!

So glad you're feeling better! And that sounds like an awesome non-Thanksgiving eating day! Naps are always wonderful.

I deep-fry a turkey every year. It's the easiest way to cook with the minimal amount of cleanup. I kind of like Thanksgiving, just because it's the only non-religious holiday for me. That being said, I'm quite happy to be alone tonight watching TV with the dog.

I've never deep-fried a turkey, though I know a lot of people who never do it any other way! We tried to roast one in the oven last year, and it was an enormous pain in the ass, lol.

I'm glad the bug seems to be on the out, too. Being sick for nearly a whole month is just insulting, honestly.

I have friends who get up at 4a to get their bird going in the oven. I'm like .. Oh, it's 2p, I think I'll start getting the turkey together. (15 lbs bird is less than 2 hours --- hour to heat the oil and another 50 to cook it).
