Bleh
After having had mystery stomach pain since the end of November, and a mysteriously-lost referral, Alex finally had a CT scan scheduled for 8:00 this morning... and forgot to set an alarm, so he missed it.
He also forgot to call the hospital to find out when he can reschedule for.
And now he just in general feels sick.
Frustrating mainly because who knows how long it'll take for him to get back in, and until he does we still have no idea what the stomach issue is. It hasn't really gotten much worse since it started, but definitely hasn't gotten better - he's still unable to eat anything other than soup and broth, and some bread if it's pretty much dissolved in the soup. He's eaten solid foods a few times - baked goods around Xmas, NYE where he bought a frozen pizza... but pretty much always winds up feeling way worse after, so he's been sticking to the almost exclusively liquid diet. But even that doesn't *help* so much as just not make it worse.

Work was annoying, in that I had to surprise!train someone. They asked my manager yesterday if I could train someone today, which of course is fine, but having no heads up is hard.
The training itself was pretty easy, because the trainee has worked here before, just doing a different job. (Which she wants to go back to, but can't yet due to an injury from when a semi truck ran a stop sign and hit the car she was in. So that's fun.)

Kind of just an all-around frustrating day, so probably going to call it an early night, heh.

I know they've done at least a few diagnostic tests, including blood, which I think was at least in part to check for H. pylori, though they haven't done a biopsy or anything. He does take NSAIDs pretty frequently, but the doctor said she doesn't think they're the culprit. She hasn't said what she DOES think, beyond "probably not an ulcer".

So, I say this purely with the intent to offer a completely unprofessional, anecdotal aside, but...
Is Alex taking naproxen sodium on a regular or even semi-regular basis? I've had a couple of family members and coworkers in the past who've taken it for arthritis and chronic pain, for which it works great. After taking it regularly for a while however, they wound up with debilitating, knife-in-stomach kind of pain that thankfully went away after they stopped taking that particular NSAID. Knowing what they went through, I've tried to avoid it myself as much as possible and just stick with ibuprofen, which, itself has all manner of fun potential side effects.
Just a thought for the unprofessional commenting abyss.

He's got a lot of chronic issues that the naproxen helps with, but that could be the culprit. He's described the pain as more of a dull, constant pain with occasional spikes, but I wonder if it is the naproxen. Maybe I'll see if he can try switching to ibuprofen for a week or so, and see if that makes a difference. (I know any NSAID can cause issues long-term, but unfortunately for chronic issues options are limited!)
