Apparently, even if Alex had made it in to his CT appointment yesterday, it wouldn't have happened.
His doctor got a call from the hospital saying that the referral was "invalid" and that they'd require a new one.
Not sure WHY it was allegedly invalid, and that was already the second time she'd sent it in because they lost the first one... so maybe third time's the charm on that?
But yesterday Alex started not feeling great, beyond just the stomach pain. This morning he was sort of okay, but by the time he went to his regular doctor's appointment mid-morning he was feeling vastly worse.
His temperature rose throughout the day, though it's stayed in the "low fever" range - mostly around 99ish, though his usual temp with the same thermometer is around 97.3-97.5. Mostly it seems to be sinus symptoms. He did take a Covid test while at the doctor, but it wasn't a rapid test, so he's not sure when he'll get results.
The workers at our usual grocery store are on strike right now (which seems to be pretty broadly supported, which I'm glad of!) so I went to Target after work to try and get Alex some cold meds. The entire aisle was basically wiped out - I got the last available box of the generic nyquil, and all that was left was the giant two-packs of liquid dayquil/nyquil, which were super pricey.

Found out another of my friends from college, living in TX now, just tested positive. She's angry because she's been super careful and has it anyway.
The fully vaxxed friends who caught it right after New Years are still debilitatingly sick.
Ugh. I feel exhausted and burned out. It's frustrating, because I feel like it's too early in the year to feel this wiped out... but of course that's all arbitrary. This is just the same creeping exhaustion and burnout from the last two years, heh.

I'm sorry about your friend, though, and I hope they'll recover fast. There are just so many people in Texas who just don't care or who think that because they are vaccinated that they don't have to be careful anymore. And then of course, there are all the conservatives who just think it's all a hoax or that people are being paranoid about it...and then they get covid and take up space in the hospitals that are needed for other people with other emergencies.

I hope my friend gets better quickly, too. I know that for a long while she drove busses for assisted living facilities, so she was exposed to a lot of people. I'm not sure if that's what she's been doing now, but it could very well be.
Way too many people here who just won't take it seriously either. And who are proud about not taking any precautions.

I'm a little surprised about the assisted living facilities being a potential place she could've gotten it but that's just because I thought that they were keeping most of those places almost on lockdown to protect the people living there.
Then again, this is Texas.
I know. That's what's so gross. How proud these fuckers are. Ugh.

Most of the breakthrough cases that I've known have had that be the case - sick, and it sucks, but they get better pretty quickly. The couple that I'm friends with who have it were both triple-vaxxed, and they are STILL really having a hard time. Have stayed out of the hospital, but it's been almost two full weeks and they're unable to do anything.
My booster is on Tuesday. I'm hoping it's pretty mild - my first shot wasn't too bad other than my arm hurting like hell, but the second knocked me down pretty hard. It's been about 50/50 with my friends who got the booster and how bad it kicked their asses, ha. (Though damn, you did have quite the day of stuff! Haha)
Yeah, I'm not sure if that's what she's still been doing job-wise. Some of the facilities were pretty locked down, but I know that she also had to take people back and forth to medical appointments where they could have been exposed to things, and plenty didn't want to mask.
Right? I'm so sick of it, and it's super fucking gross.

Been noticing the same on the stores are wiped out front while trying to avoid Kroger-branded grocery chains. Oddly enough, I've had some success at the dread Walmart for goods if you've got one nearby? (I can DM my city in case we're local-ish enough to one another and share stocked locale info haha.)
I totally relate on the exhausted and beyond tired of this all pandemic front - I just hope you're able to get some rest and stay healthy in the midst of it all. Same for Alex, hope you're both alright and able to avoid the plague and the nonsense it's brought about. Be well.

I appreciate the DM! We found most of what we were looking for at a Safeway in the area tonight, but I appreciate having a backup plan if I need it!
I wish there was at least an end in sight, but with the way people keep fucking it up, there just really isn't. We'll keep doing our best! I do hope we can keep avoiding the actual plague. Be well as well!
