02/15: The Denver Zoo
In our brief warm period between bouts of suck (and we have an "arctic blast" set to hit us on Monday or Tuesday), we decided to go to the zoo! It was a really great day to have gone - while it was a bit chilly early, it warmed up pretty fast, and was definitely the least crowded day we've gone!

Hyena being very cute.
And for once we were there at the right time to get to feed the lorikeets! You can buy a little paper cup full of "nectar" for them. It was toward the end of the feeding time, so lots of them were already full and didn't want to come interact. But this one decided to be Alex's best friend. It tried to chew on his ring, his bracelets... and his phone.
A different hyena, napping in the sun. She kept rolling and stretching, and posing the same way Cy does. (Paw over his eyes is a favorite.)
I just liked the rhino being right there, with the sign.
Tamandua! SHE'S SO CUTE I LOVE HER.
The baby mandrill! She was very active last time too, and she's the one we saw as an itty bitty baby, too.

I was glad I enticed the red lory over to visit us. :)
I also had a lorikeet poop on me, a different one (fortunately) land on the top of my head, and one climb up onto my shoulder to attempt to eat my glasses. They were very cute, and it was fun to get to interact with them.
It was world hippo day, so fitting that the hippo was out, playing with her ball.

The bongos were very intently watching a rabbit on the other side of the fence, lol.
This tiger had a very luxurious roll.
Frogs! Pretty sure the one on the lower left is going to make more frogs soon. (Or ate something really big.)
I love this snake. So green! And looks like it's wearing fishnets.
And I love these weirdos. (Lake Titicaca frogs.)

I love the hyenas and the mandrill. And that snake is hella gorgeous.

They hyenas were being adorable. And it's been really nice to see the little mandrill grow up.
The snake is absolutely one of my favorites.

Definitely quite a dangerous danger noodle, but one of my favorites.
