Time for a sporadic writing accountability post/updated calendar:
Maybe I should do these on a more regular schedule, lol.
The last several days of February did not include any fiction writing, because I was in crunch time to finish my NaMo model. Fortunately, I felt pretty okay with that, because I'd finished my rough draft early in the week! Still very relieved about that. It's kept me on track so far with the calendar I put together for myself back in January. I haven't gotten ahead like I'd hoped, but I haven't fallen behind either, which makes me feel like I was at least a decent judge of my pace and what would be reasonable for me to do!
So here's my new, updated calendar. (At least tentatively!)
The main change is that I plan to post chapters of Connections of the Heart about a month sooner than I'd originally planned.
January
31 - finish the first draft of Connections of the Heart Chapter 5 Done!
February
28 - finish the first draft of CotH Chapter 6 Done!
March
08 - finish the second draft of CotH Chapter 3
*08 - make a cover/moodboard for CotH (silly, but having an image to post with it makes me happy)
15 - finish the second draft of CotH Chapter 4
15 - post CotH Chapter 3
22 - finish the second draft of CotH Chapter 5
22 - post CotH Chapter 4
29 - finish the second draft of CotH Chapter 6
29 - post CotH Chapter 5
April
05 - post CotH Chapter 6 (coinciding with the end of
crackthewip)
12 - finish the first draft of Island Territory Chapter 2
26 - finish the first draft of IT Chapter 3
May
10 - finish the first draft of IT Chapter 4
17 - finish the second draft of IT Chapter 2
24 - finish the second draft of IT Chapter 3
31 - finish the second draft of IT Chapter 4
This is the point where I'm not completely decided on what I want to do. I'm torn between keeping to my first plan, which was to post chapters of Island Territory one per week for the first three weeks of June.
But I'm also considering posting the same way I plan to for Connections of the Heart; posting each chapter the week after I've finished the second draft, which would mean I finished posting the first week of June. It's not *quite* to my ideal of "have the fic completely done before posting", but I don't really plan to do more than two drafts, and I think it'll be enough of an opportunity to address changes I want to make in earlier chapters based on later chapters.
There is also at least a slight chance that during April and May I could again get ahead of the hoped-for schedule, which would be great! Depends how quickly Island Territory goes, I suppose.
After that, I intend to post All Strange Wonders (the Kingdom Hearts/Howl's Moving Castle fusion), which I have completed. I intend to just do quick proofreads of those chapters before posting; no more real rewriting or significant editing. That came in at 21 chapters, so one per week will take me all the way into November without a posting hiatus, even if I don't finish anything new!
While enjoying that "posting cushion" of 21 weeks, I think I'd still like to do another draft of Outbreak (the Silent Hill fic about an illness). My thought was that I could start posting that in October (which seems like prime semi-horror fic time.) This means I'd have some posting overlap (between two fics that are polar damn opposites, even. Lol)
I'd tentatively still like to write the hopefully-short Sparrow Hill Road/Alice Isn't Dead crossover.
And I had that silly holiday rom-com idea, which would be sort of fun to write and be able to post in December. I've historically not been great at writing things that are actually seasonal, ha. But if I could write it during that posting cushion time, it would be ready to go.
But this also doesn't take into account any writing events that I might decide to do. I didn't do AUgust last year, but had fun with it the year before. There will also be two "Camp NaNo" events in April and July. Those are pretty flexible, so I can adapt those to whatever I do wind up working on during that time. But in November I'll want to do actual NaNoWriMo, and I have no idea what I might want to write for that, lol.
I think this will definitely take some reevaluation as I go, and I'll have to set up a calendar going onward after May. I think that having the tentative goal calendar helps me keep on top of stuff, rather than just floundering and not knowing what to work on. I'm just not sure what it'll look like after these two projects are done!
