I got the impression that it was pretty fucked up. I have a hit or miss feeling regarding fucked up stuff. There's fucked but good, and there's fucked just to be fucked, which usually doesn't appeal so much.
I do wish Jared Leto hadn't decided to be an ass to his costars outside of the film. People who want to hate on actors because they don't like a character they portrayed, or a movie they were in, or whatever are idiots. But reacting to actual behavior I understand. Everyone decides who and what they want to support. I'm generally fairly comfortable with an art/artist divide, but I know that line falls in different places for different people. Though personally I wouldn't necessarily be at "boycott the movie" over it or anything, it sounds like he was being a creep. But also, I mostly got burned the fuck out seeing every damn "he's the Joker to my Harley" #couplesgoals garbage post on FB that I probably would be happier never seeing it, lol. Birds of Prey looked interesting though.
Yeah, I know they have consolidated almost all of it t D+, but it would take a very very big change in the world to get me to want to pay for that. I do pay for Hulu, but D+ is too much for me. Even though it's in one place, the rest of it still seems more like work than fun. Watch three series so that maybe you know who some of the characters are in the twenty fifth film... yeah, I ain't got time for that, haha. But also, I am no stranger to cherry-picking for fanfic, haha. All I write is AUs, and I pretty much can't even bring myself to care about the newer bits of the canon that I'm borrowing, haha. Also a big fan of fix-it fic, so I'm glad you're writing some!
The aesthetic or the vibe of a show isn't enough alone to keep me interested, but if that's there and then the characters and the writing are pretty solid, I'll almost certainly enjoy it.
I do still love Transmet. I have the trades on my bookshelf, and have been meaning to do a reread, too.
20+ years is pretty damn impressive. (Puts it into perspective, regarding relationships and stuff.) I'm a fan of how enduring a handful of my online connections have been.
