Habit Tracking: Week 18 (May 01 - May 07)
Some sort of watercolor-style hummingbirds this week. The hummingbirds at my mom's house have been one of the most frequent (or at least loudly attention-drawing) visitors that we notice.
This was another pretty okay week. I said earlier that housesitting for my mom felt like "LARPing adulthood", and that's... pretty accurate. I definitely have been doing more household tasks and such when it's not my house, heh. It was a productive week because of it, though. The one place that I feel behind is writing - the change in routine has really thrown that off.
Goals for the week:
- I did not finish chapter 4 of Island Territory
- I did read more of The Hanged Man
- We have been house/dog sitting! As components of that, I did fill feeders on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, and also did remember to check the mail, ha.
- Having not finished chapter 4, I have not started the second draft of Island Territory either
- I did remember to do my Get Your Words Out check-in: 18,942 words for the month of April (putting me at 74,343 words for the year so far, as of April 30.)
- Alex watered the plants at the apartment for me
- Alex also got crickets for Broccoli Cheddar Bomb
- We got a much overdue oil change for the truck
Tracked Habits:
- Work - 5/7
- Household Maintenance - 7/7, taking care of my mom's house
- Physical Activity - 7/7, mostly light stuff like taking the dogs on short walks
- Wrote 500/1000+ Words - 3/7, one day over 1000, two over 500, and one additional of less than 500
- Wrote on 2nd+ Draft - 0/7
- Meta Work - 3/7
- Personal Writing - 7/7
- Other Creative Things - 0/7
- Reading - 7/7, largely on The Hanged Man, but also some fic, plus Dracula Daily, lol
- Attention to Media - 7/7, mostly watching old episodes of The Outer Limits
- Video Games - 0/7
- Social Interaction - 7/7
Total words written: 2684 (1311 on Island Territory, 1373 on my writing plans/calendar)

By "loudly attention-drawing" do you mean hummingbirds in general are loud? I've never seen a real one so I have no idea. ^^;;

They are loud! Surprisingly so for such tiny little things! They chatter with each other (getting territorial and squabbling over the feeders), but when they fly it's a pretty loud whistling sound, too.

There are some noises that irritate me severely, though natural sounds (even repetitive ones like certain birds or insects) don't tend to bother me. Whereas electronic noises (like a TV that's on, but not actually showing anything) absolutely grate on me!

Noise-cancelling headphones would be nice! I've never had them (because they are pretty expensive), but they seem like they'd be wonderful!
