Misc.
Taylor finished The Hourglass Throne and has been flailing at me about it all day. Apparently something very harrowing happens, and I've been promised "the full range of human emotions." They're also picking fanmix songs.
That IS how we show our love for things.
So now I just need to get a bunch more read much more quickly than I usually do. I started it three days ago and am... almost done with chapter one. (To be fair, I didn't read any of it on Monday or Tuesday.) I mostly read in 15-20 minute bursts before work, but I may need to start setting aside extra bits of time.
My weekend was actually quite boring, and I enjoyed that very much. Alex and I both slept a frankly obscene amount on Monday, which I guess we both must have needed.
I made decent headway on getting caught back up with where I hoped to be on Island Territory... but have a feeling that won't quite continue tonight. I'm very tired and it got very late.
Work was... less of a mess. My manager was there this morning, but went home shortly after I got there because he wasn't feeling well. I hope it was just allergies like he thinks. (He spent five days split between Seattle and Portland on vacation with his wife. He thinks it aggravated his allergies... I hope he didn't get sick, because air travel means people and people are gross, lol.)

I've also been having trouble making time for reading; for instance, those spare 15+ minutes I keep spending on Twitter or Youtube could be used for making headway through my to-read list instead. ^^;; Sometimes it's too easy to just go for the cheap dopamine hits.
Hope your manager gets better soon, it sucks to feel unwell after being on vacation.

I have SUCH a hard time carving out reading time. I struggle to read when there's a lot of background noise, and a lot of times when we're home the TV is on, and we only have the one room. But I do wind up going for those cheap dopamine hits, absolutely - lots of scrolling tumblr and stuff. I try to be mindful about how long I spend doing that, but sometimes I catch myself spending hours on my phone, and regret that I wasn't doing something better with my time.
Manager went home early again today. I definitely hope he gets some rest and feels better. I've gotten sick after trips before, and it's no fun!

I hope he isn't sick, either (and passing it on to you). Enclosed spaces are the worst!

The first book was good, but didn't blow me away. I did enjoy it the whole way through, and the banter between the mains is great! I enjoyed the characters and the worldbuilding, but I thought it felt a *little* like a DnD campaign in the way that encounters worked, and a few of the fights felt kind of repetitive.
But the second book was REALLY GOOD. It kind of toes the line up against horror in parts, though it's still pretty much urban fantasy. Basically all the things I liked about the first book are still there and improved, while things like the action scenes were far better! (And the villain is so very extremely creepy, which I loved.)
I am not very far in the third book, though it sounds like A Ride, from what my sibling says.
Manager went home sick again today, and I really do think it sounds like he's sick as opposed to having allergies, but we're still holding out hope. I really don't want to catch the crud!

Oh no! I hope you don't catch the crud. I hate being sick, even with 'just' a cold. When I'm all stuffy my brain has trouble working.

Definitely hoping I don't catch the crud. I hate getting sick and dealing with the brain fog and such that comes with it.
