Got to see my dad this morning, which was nice. :)
His trip up here coincided pretty closely with me getting super sick, so we hadn't had a chance to visit yet. He took me to breakfast and we got to chat.
He's here for some music stuff (as usual). And his brother-in-law has some new streaming app thing that he's working on, and he's paying my dad to help curate some music options for him, which at least so far is giving him better pay with fewer hours than Home Depot, ha.
My step-mom is recovering well from having been hit by the angle-grinder a couple months ago. (Got to see a gory picture of it - it was pretty horrifying.) She's already up to lifting close to 30 lbs, which is way more than I would have anticipated! Apparently the scar is pretty gnarly, ha.

Alex had an MRI this morning. The results are... more or less as expected. His neck is pretty fucked up. Unfortunately, this is probably the kind of thing that's going to require surgery, and we are both terrified of the prospect of him having neck surgery.

I really need to get it together and get back to writing! I did write a little bit last night, but not much. The end of this fic is SO CLOSE. I feel like I always have this issue - when I get to the end, I completely struggle and flail to try and finish. I just have to push through, but it's SO tempting to go straight to bed tonight, ugh.

Good to hear about your Step-Mom, that is such a scary injury. But being able to lift that much sounds promising.
Neck surgery is scary. I hope that all does well.

And yes, definitely glad that she's recovering well. That was a terrifying injury, and one that involved a very significant recovery period.
Neck surgery is very scary. No details yet, just the knowledge that it's looming as the "last resort" to treat the issues.
UGH. The end bit is *excruciating* haha. It's such a struggle, even though it feels like it shouldn't be!

And yeah, me too. There's no real info or timeline for the surgery, beyond just knowing it's pretty much the last thing that can be tried to fix the issues.

Apparently there's a law in AZ that's intended to protect consumers, by assigning value ranges for every component of an injury and requiring insurance companies to pay it out if they haven't settled otherwise within two years (to prevent them from taking MORE than two years). In practice, this means they absolutely drag their feet for two full years and then just try to pay out the minimum. So it's still in progress, and may be for another year+, but it's not likely that anything will really be contested, so maybe it'll be dealt with sooner.
