Denver Botanic Gardens - Part 2
And here's round two of the pictures from the botanic gardens on Monday. These are the non-flower pictures, so mostly animals or non-blooming flowers.

A night heron! Spotted this guy shortly before we were nudged toward the exit. He was over by the koi pond, just past where Alex was standing. We didn't notice him at all at first!

And a nice little patch of succulents growing in a log.

This fairly chunky squirrel got a strawberry!

And a toad in one of the lily ponds. There were also lots of little tadpoles just going all in on the algae, which was adorable.

The solarium, which is always pretty.

A robin at a birdbath.

Bunny! Very unbothered by us, haha.

Damselflies making LOTS more damselflies. Alex and I joked that nature is clearly trying to normalize the idea of damselfly group sex, lol.

Bee hotel!

A ladybug came and landed on my arm. :)

Some koi.

More koi! - fixed, oops

And so many cute little tadpoles! I love them all.

And one more shot of the night heron, through the tree it was perched under.

The bee hotel was wonderful. We did see a few non-honey bees around, so I hope some of them may be making use of it!

Speaking of previous posts, the bunny photo reminded me of an older post featuring a small bunny near a cage containing a bird of prey (a hawk?); I'm not sure if it was taken in this same place. Makes me wonder if that small bunny is the same size as the one in this more recent photo.
Something about the photo of succulents growing in a log is really pleasing to my eye; they just look like they're in the perfect place. I can't explain it.
That ladybug is so cute! It almost looks like a button.

Haha, I'm surprised you remember that picture! The baby bunny taunting the caged hawk was at the Denver Zoo - the Gardens and the Zoo are pretty close to each other, geographically. Just a mile or two away, probably.
The bunny in the hawk picture was much smaller - truly a little baby. It would probably have fit in the palm of my hand. This one was on the bigger side for a cottontail, closer to the length of my forearm.
The succulents were so perfectly fit within the log! I loved the way they filled the space, while also having very organic placement.
And the ladybug was adorable! I've loved ladybugs since I was a kid, so they always make me happy.
