Pitbull in the sun!



We went to a local park for a short while so that Cy could run around. There wasn't much running because it was pretty warm, but we sat on the grass for a bit...


And found the very smallest inchworm.

Our fourth of July/anniversary tradition (besides seeing fireworks somewhere) is fruit salad. [The story is that I love fruit, and Alex complained about how gross fruit salad always is, since it's typically underripe melon and some grapes and that's it. But We Are Adults, so we can make fruit salad out of whatever fruits we want including only the good ones.]


So here's our favorite fruits (which is a huge splurge at the start of the month, but it's a celebratory thing.)

We headed to a neighboring town, because our local fireworks shows were cancelled. (Silly, because we actually got a lot of rain in the last week, but oh well.) We picked the one that sounded like it had the best food trucks, haha. We also went SUPER EARLY so that we could get parking. We succeeded at that, and got a really good brisket sandwich from a Texas-style BBQ truck, and set up a spot on the grass.

Cy came with - he's a lot more anxious being alone than he is about fireworks, which he mostly seems bored by.

The live music was better than usual for a fourth of July thing. There was a string quartet doing mashups for an hour, and then a group that mostly covered popular hip-hop/rap from the 90s and 00s with a few more recent hits mixed in. But it beat the hell out of patriotic country-rock, ha.

We did get a pretty sudden and relatively strong storm that came through for a bit. They shut stuff down due to lightning and thunder for a while. We just huddled under our picnic blanket while it rained and managed to stay mostly dry.

Ultimately, we hung out in a semi-crowded field for almost 5 hours for a 15 minute fireworks show, but it was fine. It was still nice to spend the day together just kind of hanging out.

Cy! That fruit salad looks delicious! You should only make fruit salad from the very best fruits!! I think I said it before, but in case I didn't, happy anniversary!

CY! Haha, that is pretty much the look he's giving. "Um... are you sure we're supposed to be here? We could go home... I'm late for my nap on the bed."

The fruit salad was delicious! All the faves and nothing boring, haha.

That fruit salad looks so colorful and so, so good. I can tell it was worth the cost. (And gosh, it looks like it cost a good chunk of your budget, too.)

The fruit salad was delicious. It is definitely a pretty big splurge on food at the beginning of the month, but worth it!
