Record-setting heat today. Denver officially hit 100° today (beating our record of 98° for the date, which we'd tied last year.)

Foolishly, we're heading to where it's *even fucking hotter* next week... Just for a few days, but the forecast is calling for 105°. Bad timing.

I think we're going to leave Cy with my mom for the couple nights we'll be gone. I'm a little nervous about it. I don't think he's *ever* been away from Alex for that long, and definitely not away from both of us.

I'm afraid he's going to be an absolute nightmare for my mom - at best he'll be annoyingly clingy. At worst he'll just... be so obnoxious. He's an amazingly good dog, one of the best-behaved I've ever known... except for the anxiety, and I know he'll be super anxious.

It's only for two and a half days, so I know everything will almost certainly be fine. I just worry, haha.

But as much as Cy doesn't understand it, it's the kinder thing - 105° is too damn hot for a dog.

Definitely looking forward to having a week away from work. I know it'll go way too fast and feel like nothing, but I'm definitely hoping to enjoy the time away.

It's 107º here today. I think we've got a day that's supposed to be 108º, and that's all before the heat index is figured in.

I hate Texas.

Definitely don't make Cy-baby be in that heat if you can help it. He'll probably have a bit of a panic because furbabies need their humans, but he'll be very happy to see you when you return.

Ugh, that is MISERABLE. Yuck. We hit 101 today, which was hotter than anticipated, but at least we don't have the humidity to contend with.

I'm glad this may very well be your last Texas summer.

Oh yes, definitely better for him to stay at my mom's house. He'll be upset, but at least he won't melt!

Unless something goes terribly terribly wrong, this will be our last summer in Texas. Even if (when) we come back to visit, it won't be in the summer.

I'm sorry that you have to leave Cy behind (it always breaks my heart a tiny bit when we have to do things that we can't explain to them), but it 100000% sounds like the right call.

WAY too hot! Ugh. I'm extremely grateful that we have effective air conditioning in our apartment.

And yes, it will break my heart to leave Cy behind, knowing how upset he'll probably be. But it's definitely the better decision to keep him safe and comfortable.
