Diagnosis: You've Got Bones
Alex had his x-ray appointment earlier, and that was about all it told them: Yep, he's got bones. (He did say the X-ray tech's office was pretty cute, with a ton of skeleton-themed decor.) Hopefully he can get an MRI appointment before too long.
Ran a handful of errands, which were fortunately successful.
Next month is NaMoPaiMo, which I think I've mentioned before. It's National Model Horse Painting Month. Collecting and competitively showing and customizing model horses sounds like a weird hobby, but it's surprisingly robust for such a niche thing. It's definitely more Alex's thing than mine, but I try to participate when I can. The last two years I've entered NaMoPaiMo, and I plan to this year as well, though I still need to pick a project.
The relevance of that is that we needed primer and sealer for our projects (and non challenge-related projects of Alex's.) But the basic Krylon and Rustoleum type primers and sealers aren't very reliable for stuff like this.
The best primer we've found is Duplicolor, which is an auto body primer, that only O'Reilly's seems to carry (other companies claim to have it, but track it as an identical inventory item to Krylon, and consider it an equivalent substitute, when it's not, dammit) and it's hit or miss if they'll have white.
For sealer, the go-to seems to be Dullcote, which is a Testors product meant for models. But for some reason, there seems to be a perpetual shortage of Dullcote just about everywhere, though we found a small local craft store that's had it twice now, lol.
I'd hoped that today would be one where we could go walk or something, since I really do want to try and get some kind of exercise, even if it's minor. But since yesterday we have had the WORST wind, so that was a big nope.
I think I'm going to try and grab a nap before maybe trying to be productive on writing.

I haven't gotten any yet! I keep forgetting to get it when I'm at the store. (Also, for the Icy Hot, do you go for their patch things, or just a topical creme? gel?)
I think he's tried aspercreme before, and said it didn't do much for him, but that may have been for his knee. I don't know that he's tried it for his shoulder.

Definitely get the Icy Hot, and I get the topical cream. I've used some of the patches before, but I find that the topical cream works better, and it smells pretty good. Minty. Aspercreme is for bone pain, so that may be why it didn't do much for him. That's why I have it now. When my toes hurt, my sister and I have figured out that it's arthritis because I'll mix a touch of the Aspercreme and Icy Hot together and put it all across my toes and massage it in, and it really works.

Icy Hot is on the list for a grocery run tomorrow! (And I'm glad it smells good!) I think the aspercreme was for his knee, where he has bone-on-bone after his knee surgery, but it's just too deep in the joint for topical things to help.
Somehow I hadn't considered trying them together! A world of possibilities! I sometimes get pain in my hands (though also sometimes elsewhere) that I think might be early arthritis, and if this could help that, it would be a miracle!
