We're all adults, so could we act like damn adults, please?

Just the stupidest ~work drama~.

One of our drivers has some REALLY difficult life circumstances right now, and I absolutely cannot even fathom how much shit she has to deal with. She's going through hell, and I get that's likely what caused the lash out today from her side.

Driver texts me less than an hour before her shift, telling me to tell the manager she can't make it in today, refuses to call him, and shuts her phone off. The manager panics that she's quitting, even though she wasn't. He clears her schedule for tomorrow because he can't get a hold of her and is afraid she won't be up to working, because she's clearly Going Through It from how many "fucks" were peppered into her texts to both of us. He also offers that even though he moved her schedule to someone else, she can do something else tomorrow if she needs the hours, and he'll approve the time.
She unloads on him this evening for betraying her and replacing her with a new employee and she thought they were friends... then texts me asking what she's supposed to do now that the manager fired her. Which he didn't. But he refuses to reply and has HIS boss text her, which just sets her off even more...

THESE ARE THE MORE ADULT ADULTS. THEY ARE DECADES OLDER THAN ME AND I WANT TO THROW THEM BOTH INTO TIME OUT. WHAT THE FUCK.

I spent quite a bit of the workday trying to calm the manager down from his stress over the whole thing, AND a good hour this evening texting the driver trying to talk HER down. This shit is exhausting, and it doesn't even seem to be helping! I'm not paid to be the office therapist or mediator!

AND we have a center meeting tomorrow, which means my 9 hour hell-day is going to be an 11 hour hell-day. :) I'm so excited!

(But like... really. What the fuck.)

Sounds about typical for office staff. When I worked for the psychologist (truthfully my favorite job of all of them other than reading tarot at psychic fairs), the office staff was the most gossipy, childish, shallow of anyone I've ever met.

That sounds like an awful position for you to be in! And just as exhausting as you say.

So you have more professionalism in your little finger than they have in their entire carcasses.

Yikes. All of this could have been avoided if they would just talk directly to each other.
