The stupidest "apartment inspection"

We had the second (kind of third) apartment inspection yesterday. It was very annoying.

Six weeks ago-ish, right after we got back from our vacation, they did the major inspection. We worked our asses off to get the apartment clean, and then... never found out the results of the inspection, so... I guess it was fine?

A couple weeks after that they said they needed to come test the smoke alarms. Which... cool... couldn't you have done it at the same time? But whatever.

Then on Friday they told us they'd be coming on Tuesday to do another inspection, this one for ~the Investors.~ Yuck. And annoying, because it said they'd be doing all the same stuff, so we had to do all the same prep - nothing in the sink, nothing in front of any cabinets or closet doors, all surfaces and appliances cleaned, all *walls* cleaned... the checklist is a little over the top, imo.

Also, while you don't have to be present for the inspection, you can't leave animals in the apartment unattended if they're coming by, which meant we couldn't do anything on Tuesday like go to a movie or on a hike, because we had to have Cy with us.

Finally around 3:30 they came by, woke both of us up from where we'd dozed off watching a movie, and a man and a woman came in. They barely stepped into the kitchen, the woman stepped in far enough to see me sitting on the bed and waved. Then she said "Oh, you guys have a studio? That's so cute!" and then left.
They looked at nothing.

WTF.

At least the apartment is super clean.

I hope they don't have *another* surprise inspection, at least! So hopefully we are done.

And yes, at least we'll enjoy it being extra clean!

Yeah, hopefully it went well. Could have done without the kind of condescending "aw, the poors in their tiny apartments is just adorable" way it came across, but it could have been way worse.

Very true! I'm glad it was quick, but it was very weird and kinda awkward. Hopefully it's done-done, now.

It was a bit frustrating, to sink a lot of our day for something pretty trivial, but I'm glad it's done!

And yes, we'll enjoy the super clean apartment, even if we didn't need to put in that much intense effort.

Definitely annoying af, but at least, the apartment is super clean and it's over again for a bit. You guys can relax and hopefully not have other days off interrupted by nonsense.

I HOPE we do get a chance to actually enjoy some days off at some point! Though I have to return to the dentist on Tuesday, so it's not happening this weekend just yet.
