*more muffled screaming*

Today was not a shorter day. Today I stayed an extra HOUR after I was supposed to be gone, and STILL had to leave some things undone. I know that 9+ hour days are the norm for some people, but they aren't for me, and I don't get paid hourly, so there's no benefit to me - just less time NOT working.

It wasn't a DIFFICULT day, it was just full of constant interruptions, mostly parents and students with questions or asking to schedule/reschedule/verify dates. All of that is FINE, and absolutely part of my job... there's just more than I am capable of doing in a day, and that's frustrating.

The success of our location has come with a dramatic increase in the admin work required for it. Doubling the number of employees scheduled on a given day, doubling (in some cases tripling) the number of students they have... means doubling and tripling how many confirmation calls that is, and how much paperwork I have to pull, etc. Tasks that used to take two hours out of my day now can genuinely take four or more, even as I TRY to make it go faster, because I'm not "supposed to" spend that much time on it. But that's how long it takes, whether they want it to or not! But none of the other things going on are taking LESS time, so... that's a problem.

They have created a job listing for a new part-time person to work with me on the weekends and to be there on my days off. I... kinda hate it, lol, because I will miss having days where I'm the only office person there. But I also know it will probably make my workload significantly more manageable. (Part of the issue on Sunday is that I'm doing the prep work for THREE days instead of just one, and having someone in on my days off would remove the need for me to do that. Plus general divide-and-conquer.)
I just need it to be someone I don't hate working with, lol, and I know I'll have zero say in hiring.

The newest employee told me today that he's quitting (Tuesday will be his last day, so I wouldn't see him again after today. He hasn't told the manager yet, and neither have I.) I'm... quietly relieved. I knew it would be a bad fit, and I'd rather it be an easy parting of ways than a rescheduling nightmare, or to have it happen because of an actual issue with a student, which has been my fear.

Last night I didn't get back to writing, but I DID make fairly significant progress in my current book, so that felt good. I'd bargained that it meant today HAD to be my return to writing... but it was such a fuckoff day that reading sounds way better, so... *shrug*. I'm not the boss of me, I can't tell me what to do...

Tomorrow SHOULD be a day we can FINALLY do something outside. I want very, very badly to be outside for an extended period of time in the sun. It's been weeks since I've had more than maybe five minutes outside at a stretch, and it's killing me, lol.

Sounds hectic. I hope the new person actually helps and doesn't just create more work. That can he tricky at times.

Hope you can get some sunshine tomorrow! I hope the eventual part-timer meshes with you and helps with the workload.

Fingers crossed! And I hope the new part-timer turns out to be genuinely helpful.
