Miscellaneous pictures from the week - all bugs!
On Sunday, before heading over to my mom's, we stopped by one of the city parks again. I went to check and see if I could find our praying mantis friend on the sage again, but this time...
There were TWO mantises!
From below. Look how round they are! I'm hoping these two may be laying eggs, soon.
Then as Cy went to roll in the grass, he nearly squished a THIRD mantis!
This was a much leaner gentleman(?) than the other two. I picked him up to save him from dog-squishing, he crawled around on my hand for a bit, then flew off.
Also in the garden at the park:
On that upper seedhead, a ladybug pupa!
There was also a ladybug larva (little gila monster looking guys) crawling around, but I did not get a non-blurry picture.
Then on Monday, while at my mom's, she found a katydid in her bedroom:
A friend on the window!
I took him outside.
I put him down on a zinnia, and he immediately just faceplanted and started chowing down, so I moved him to a geranium, which had more leaves to sacrifice if needed.
It's been a really good year for katydids, it seems like. We hear them clicking just about every night around our apartment, at my mom's house, even in the parking lot at work.
