Look at this fancy nature magazine shot of this mantis, lmao.

This is a mantis on a *second* of the Russian sage bushes in the park - each bush appears to have two big female mantises! I'm hoping that means lots of little baby mantids in spring. :)

Wow, I can't believe you found a rose still blooming. I've recently taken a lot of photos of the same/similar purple flowers, some kind of aster, I think?

They look like asters! I think that's what they are, though couldn't pick out a particular type. They're more vibrant than the wild ones we see sometimes.

I've been surprised by the roses! There are a few of them still blooming around, which seems so late!
