Siamés Concert!

Siamés is an Argentinian band known mostly for one pretty rad animated music video that got very popular several years ago:

After seeing that video, I bought the album, absolutely loved it, and continued to love most of what they've put out. (Including quite a few more very cool animated videos.) So it was very cool to get to see them live! They have been to the US to tour before, but not Denver.

Siamés!
(Sadly probably the best picture of them I really wound up with, heh. Annoyingly, my phone camera was being severely laggy, more so than I've ever had issues with before. I'm afraid the phone is on the way out...)

Taylor also loves them, so it was great that we got to go. The last concert we went to was... Silversun Pickups in February of 2020, right before everything shut down, ha.

We did take a rideshare down to the venue, because parking was so frustrating when Alex and I were there a few weeks ago. We got there about twenty-five minutes before doors, and it was VERY COLD to stand outside, but at least it wasn't snowing.

The tour poster in the window of the venue. (Sidenote - my friend from Voicecoil is performing as his other project, Gravity Corps, at Saturnalia tonight.)

We figured if we were going to be standing around waiting anyway, we might as well wait in the merch line. Semi good thing... Taylor and I got the last two (or damn close to it) Denver tour posters. :D (There are different posters for each stop on the tour... and somehow they were nearly sold out of Denver ones already!)
I bought Taylor the poster and a tour shirt as an Xmas gift, since they'd been struggling to come up with an idea for what they wanted.

(Crummy screenshot from a promo video, because that's the ONLY image I found of the poster, and mine is rolled up in a tube for safety at the moment.)

After buying our stuff, we headed back to the floor to hang out near the stage.

Our local opener was "The Trujillo Company."

Hadn't heard of them before, but they were pretty all right. Some good guitar.

(Did get to hear the guy behind us in line outside while we were waiting wondering who "the troo-jill-oh company" was. :| )

Then, Siamés!

They played a lot of stuff I was glad to hear, including things I wasn't really expecting to! It was a fairly good mix of things off of both their albums and some of their newer yet-to-be-on-an-album stuff.

(This one is my favorite picture, probably, though it's a shame Barbie Williams isn't in this pic.)

They opened with the "Home" intro and then into "No Lullaby", which was a good choice.

I don't remember the order for the setlist, but off of Bounce Into the Music (first album), they played "Mr. Fear," "Firestorm," "Used to Be," "Stronger," "As You Get High" (*) and of course "The Wolf"(**).
"Mr. Fear" and "Firestorm" were especially excellent live, imo. [Taylor was surprised and glad about "Firestorm"; it's a blorbo song, ha.]

In addition to "No Lullaby," off of Home they played "Summer Nights," - which was GREAT live, and also included confetti, ha - "I Can't Wait," "Brothers," "Young and Restless", "Easier," and "The Protected." ("The Protected" was the one off the album that I was most hoping for outside of the singles, but didn't anticipate.)

For newer tracks, they played "All the Best," "Always the Same," "Frozen Heart," and "My Way."

They also played one completely new, unreleased track, "Alone in the Dark," and YES, I WOULD LIKE THEM TO PLEASE RELEASE THIS SO I CAN PAY MONEY FOR IT. As Taylor said "oooh, crunchy" and I really liked it.

*They closed with "As You Get High", which is one of my FAVORITES off of the first album, which DELIGHTED me, because that was the song I most hoped to hear but least expected to.

**For their encore, they came back to the intro "BITM" into "The Wolf," which was completely perfect.

[For two reasons. 1) The thing I love most about "As You Get High" is the fact that toward the end of the song, the lyrics from the BITM intro start to weave in, and it comes together in a way that I just fucking love. So that being their "closeout" song, to then come back in to the intro that uses the same lyrics was perfect and a neat sort of circular thing. And 2) The BITM intro segues into "The Wolf" perfectly, so even though it isn't actually part of that track, I always WANT to hear them together, and so I was glad we got to at the show!]

Confetti at the end!

I'm real sad that my phone would NOT take the damn picture, so I didn't get a good shot here.

Which, holy damn, they played like... 20 songs. It was a very long set and it was SO fun.

That's awesome that you got to see them. Sounds like you had an awesome time :)
