Kind of starting to poke at my writing goals for the year, but I don't feel ready to commit to them just yet. (Beyond the 75k goals for the year, and needing to finish my piece for Set Sail by the end of the week.)

Still have mostly the same fic ideas floating around as possibilities, and still some original stories that need significantly more poking to be worthwhile, but still seem worth it. But have any of them really GRABBED me? Alas, no. BUT. I want to want to write, which is an improvement over feeling like I'd rather never "have" to write again.

(And I know that I don't HAVE to write, which is part of what sucks about the feeling... no one else is making me do it, so motivating myself purely internally when I don't feel like it is rough!)

But sort of letting myself take a month off seems to have been helpful. I'm going to try and do some more reading, and finish up my zine piece and see where I'm at after that.

Maybe I'll try outlining a few different things, or do the "write a bunch of chapter 1s and see if any feel super great" thing. We'll see!

Right now I'm just mildly dreading the final round of edits for my zine piece... it's a short story, so 2250 is the absolute MAX number of words, with the goal being closer to 2000. I got it down to 2288 after my last round of rewriting, and trimming out 40ish more words shouldn't be the worst, but uuuuuuuuugh, I'm going to whine about every one anyway.

Good luck! I hope you find stuff that inspires you, even if you write less this year. You did a lot of big projects! It can help to talk stuff out about what you like, and also taking breaks to recharge.

It's helped me a lot at least. So have some of the skillshare 'find your art style' stuff that I never really finished, but the taking time to connect with the things I like really helped with writing and other stuff.
