Monday: Belmar again
Ah yes, thinking back to way back... yesterday... when it was actually lovely out and being outside was an enjoyable experience. It seems so long ago.
I was apparently EXTREMELY tired - I slept until 10:00, which used to be the norm, but hasn't happened in a long while. I stopped setting alarms on my weekends, because I never sleep past about 8.
The weather was nicer than anticipated - high 50s, as opposed to the mid-40s forecast, so we decided to go out and do something. We went back to Belmar, because it's a fairly good length for the dogs - they're tired by the end, but not too tired before we're done.
And we saw birds! Including some rarer (for here) ones! (Which is exciting to me. I do realize that "oooh, 10:00 was so laaaaaate, blah blah weather, oooh, birdwatching" sounds very old person of me.)

The rarest one - attracting attention from a bunch of people with much nicer cameras - a bald-faced ibis! I have definitely not seen an ibis here before, but they are occasional migratory visitors. (And apparently there have been several sighted in various lakes around the region.)

A crow! I like the reflection in the creek.

One of the birds that isn't rare per se, but that I haven't seen before as far as I can remember: American avocets! They're cute.
We also saw another belted kingfisher. :) I didn't get a picture of him, but he was very loud.

Another shot of the ibis! I kind of like that it's just... chilling. It's just... doing it's ibis thing, wading through the reeds, while a bunch of people with serious camera lenses gather to watch it. It doesn't even know it's a celebrity.
There was also a pair of cinnamon teals, which I only see infrequently. My picture was pretty bad though.

Another crow! Had lots to say.

Some very lovely flowers.

A pair of blue-winged teals. They're another first-time sighting for me.

A cormorant, carrying a stick.

Snowy egret!
They were doing construction (looked like just maintenance, hopefully) on the bridges over the far end, so we couldn't go visit the turtles, alas.

On the way around the bridges, there is the old dock (?). It's one of the old structures from back when there was a mansion on the grounds. Some turtles on the very #aesthetic branches under the willow tree. Also a white-fronted goose (I think) over on the edge of the pond. Another avian oddity!

One more avocet!

Both Cy and Bella were pretty tired after the walk. My lap is only so big, but they will try.
It was nice to have another day of sun and not terrible weather. (After waking up to the news about potential feet of snow; so far we're still at rain, and I'm crossing my fingers it stays that way.)
Definitely didn't get as much stuff done as I'd hoped to, when I thought the weather would keep us inside, but not sad about it. We did get a lot of organizing done for the show on Saturday, so that was at least one thing that needed doing that got almost completely done.

And they are SO cute together. Even if Cy still seems to mostly just tolerate her, ha.
