Feeling maybe a bit better. The sore throat is mostly gone, at least. I am absolutely exhausted, though, so I think it's going to be another lazy evening/early night.

I did manage to get a little over 600 words last night, so that feels better than the last week of getting nothing written at all.

The snow started here - nearly a whiteout while I was at work. Couldn't see past the edge of the parking lot. It's not quite as heavy now, but it is still coming down. We'll see how much we get. Definitely thinking a lot about my friends in other parts of the country, especially down in Texas.

Now I'm trying to decide how productive I'm going to push myself to be for my "weekend." I kind of want to take it easy, but at the same time, I don't want to waste it doing nothing. I guess it depends how I'm feeling.

Ugh. That cold sounds horrible, hon. I hope you feel better from it soon. They're miserable. I hate them. *hugshugs*

Texas is surviving but pretty much on our own and help from outside Texas and HEB (the main grocery store that can be counted on for our weather disasters as well as going out to help other states and even went to Puerto Rico after the hurricanes to take them food and water). No help from our government. They're too busy counting their billions from the price gouging they're planning on doing.

The horse looks good, btw. I like the coloring. What do you do with all the model horses when they're painted?

600 is really good, esp when you're feeling like crap. I got 2000ish done last night but I haven't done really much tonight, and there were nights before last that I didn't get to write at all because of no power. Good for you, though! Writing while sick is always so hard!

I will say that that's something I've appreciated about getting the flu shot the last three years -- I haven't gotten colds or the typical Texas sinus crud that I usually got at least twice a year. I am a little nervous about getting the second dose of the Covid vaccine (I mean, I'm gonna do it, no doubt) because a lot of people are feeling crummy after it with fever and chills and aches. Blech. But I'll deal with it because it will be preferred to getting actual Covid.

This is a ridiculous disaster that is bringing Republican failure and greed to a lot of people's attention (as if most of us didn't already know about it?), and I swear, if this doesn't wake up people like my brother and his wife then nothing will, and I'm done with them. I mean, the three of us survived, and Kathy's 67. Joe's younger than Kathy, and Linda's a year or two older, but they both have massive health problems. Joe doesn't have a breathing machine that keeps him alive, but he does have a CPAP to help him keep breathing while he sleeps (as in he's got that thing where he snores and occasionally will stop breathing for a second before starting again? Can't remember what it's called). A lot of people are really pissed off at the politicians...for now. I hope that rage sticks around so that we can make appropriate changes. Of course, I'm hoping to be out of Texas before the next senate election, but we should still be here for the next governor's one. I'd like to see Abbott out on his ass.

Well, if you're having fun with it, that's pretty cool. We all have our hobbies and creative outlets. I do need to go through all my jewelry-making supplies, though, and get rid of most of it. I'm sending it all out to other people who'll get a use out of it, but I'm not going to do the jewelry crafts anymore.

Thanks! I'm hoping to get more writing done tonight. I hope you feel better and can get writing done that you want to do!

If you watch the Good Place: I am getting further and further drawn into Community which is on Amazon Prime at the moment. It moves a bit slow and you're suppose to find the lead characters mildly annoying but endearing. With big names like Chevy Chase (playing basically himself), John Oliver, comedians Ken Jeong and Drew Carey as well as the beginning of Childish Gambino's career aka Donald Glover (no relation to Danny Glover) - it's great! I mean a lot of big names wander in and out like Betty White teaches a class at the beginning of season 2 and nearly kills one of the main cast. This gets hysterical. So I recommend it.

If you have Brit Box on Amazon - Rosemary and Thyme but they are on Youtube as well. This series was FANTASTIC but sadly only 3 seasons. It's like Cagney & Lacey as gardeners who actually really don't want to solve murders - they want to keep working as gardeners. You get some fantastic footage of gardens which we all could use by now. In fact I think I'll rewatch it. The intro is gorgeous. The characters you just adore and wish you could meet someday.

For the X Files - I heard nothing but excellent things about Truth Seekers and so I'm puzzled why it was not renewed. Literally everyone I spoke to about it adored it. From fellow Creepies in ONTD Creepy to friends in real time.

If you like Black Mirror & X Files, you might like Tales From The Loop (which pulled from the sequel story "Things from The Flood" which hasn't been made into a show yet but I'm mentioning it in case you read the series). It's also a bit like Eureka because it's all contained in a town.

I've been getting back into Boston Legal because I love Spader and Shatner. In watching The Blacklist, you can really see Shatner's influence on Spader in the character Red. I do need to restart the Blacklist - my DVR deleted the first 3 episodes of a new season and I lost interest since I could not get those back and boy was I lost. Missing 3 episodes of The Blacklist is like missing a single episode of 24 - which happened to me also when I bought the DVD set. I missed 11pm and suddenly long time characters were not only missing but never referred to again. In a single hour. 24 is exhausting to watch, I gotta admit but The Blacklist is a good strong build.
Boston Legal is a nice look at the past we're quickly running away from.
