More pictures from the last couple weeks:
One picture from a nearby park from August 14:

Look at this surprisingly clear picture of a wasp! I was trying to get it when it landed on the flower, but it took off before I got the picture. Turns out it was still in great focus, and I got it in flight!
On August 15th, we briefly stopped by the xeriscape garden for a quick walk:

There was a very tiny cactus that had planted itself on the pathway, close to the edge. I put some rocks around it in the vain hope it won't get stepped on.

I just liked how vibrant the yellow flowers were against the very blue sky.

Bumblebee in flight!
On the 21st, we went to Pelican Pond (though saw no pelicans), again for a brief walk.

A monarch! I'm always VERY happy to see monarchs! This one looked pretty fresh, like maybe it was a recent emergence.

Cormorants! And one wood duck over to the left. And a photobombing dragonfly against the sky.

And a second monarch! Resting in the shade. This one also looked fairly "new".

The cormorant picture is great

I love the cormorants. I like that you can spot the young one, with the paler plumage, too.

Aww, I hope you've saved that little cactus life! It looks so cute.
I lol'd at the birds because they look so awesomely silly sitting there.

I really do hope that the little cactus makes it! It was so tiny and cute!
And the cormorants were very silly. I love them!
