Habit Tracking: Week 8 (February 21 - February 27)
Moderately late this week!
I did mostly pretty well on my additional goals:
- I finished editing Chapter 4 of Steffi's book
- I finished my NaMoPaiMo horse
- I did NOT get another 1500 words on A Show of Good Faith or finish an outline for it
- I cleaned the top of my bookshelf (and realized that there were a LOT more things on the top of the shelf to dust off than I thought, so left my goal at that.)
- I did NOT edit Chapter 5 of Steffi's book
- I did finish River of Teeth
And for the actual habits:
- Work - 5/7, the usual
- Household Maintenance - 1/7, the day I cleaned the shelf
- Physical Activity - 0/7, woof
- Wrote 500/1000+ Words - 1/7, plus one day of less than 500, yikes
- Meta Work - 3/7, mainly outlining and sorting out plot things for ASoGF
- Personal Writing - 7/7, though one day was pretty weak
- Other Creative Things - 5/7, cramming in work on my NaMo project
- Reading - 6/7, pretty good, and a mix of fic and physical books
- Video Games - .5/7, when I watched Taylor playing Okami
- Social Interaction - 6/7, though weak on two of those days
Total words of fiction written: 750 on A Show of Good Faith
Total words written between January 31 and February 27: 6358 Less than my 10k from last month, but not terrible. At least it's writing!
The balance of my free time was definitely thrown of by the NaMo project, and looking at that on paper (on screen?), I'm breathing out a bit of a sigh of relief. I kept looking at my wordcount and how few days I wrote and feeling bad over it, but... I was spending all my free time on something else. Of course I wasn't getting that amount of writing done. I may want to do it all, but I've only got so much time in the day after work.
And also, my goal has been "500 words per day, more days than not"... and while I haven't hit that on fiction every day (which is tbh the spirit of the goal), I *have* also written entries on here every day for the last two months, and I haven't counted those words toward that goal. But taking that into account, I really have been writing FAR more than I have for quite some time.
That said, I do still want to get back to more progress on creative writing. In March, I want to start my second draft of All Strange Wonders, which will first mean rereading it, but afterwards I'm hoping the writing will be quicker.
