Tuesday, August 13th: Neighborhood bugs
On Tuesday, we took a quick walk through one of the neighborhood parks. It was a chance to give Cy a good brushing (he is shedding SO much), and let the dogs walk around a bit.
Also a chance for me to check out the local bugs! Sadly no praying mantises. :( I was hopeful, because my mom had found one in her garden a few days before, but alas.
Regrettably my phone wasn't being as cooperative as I could have hoped, so they aren't the highest quality pictures I've ever come away with, but a few that are at least okay.

Bee-flies are so cute!

Pretty big grasshopper!

A pair of ambush bugs sharing a honeybee snack.

More ambush bugs, hanging out on the black-eyed susans.

Different individual, but very similar big grasshopper.

Adorable little bee-fly, drinking some nectar.

A little moth on the far side of the flowers.

Ti has started shedding like crazy, too! We got a new comb/brush thing that gets down to his undercoat. It's called the Furminator, lol! Pip calls it the Wonder Comb, because it really does do a great job. *g*

Ugh, the shedding is crazy! For Cy we've been using a rubber sort of "currycomb" style brush that's actually a cat brush, but it seems to work pretty well and be gentle enough for him. But there's just so. much. hair.
Though furminator is a great name, haha. Especially since it works!

We have so many grasshoppers this year, to the point we've gotten frequent local news articles about it, ha. I genuinely find it really cool how much variety there is among various grasshopper species, though! So many sizes and colors!
