The S-nope-pocalypse?

There is yet time, but so far our 30-year storm has been... pretty weak. The snow totals are actually holding steady, but the timing went from Friday evening, to overnight Friday-Saturday, to 5am Saturday, to 11am Saturday, to Saturday afternoon, and now to overnight Saturday-Sunday/Sunday. There was a period of heavy snow in the late morning, but then it lightened back up, had another burst around 5, and is just now getting heavy again. So we'll see. Maybe it'll earn the worry.

The delay in the weather definitely wasn't a bad thing, since I had to go into work today, but I still feel like it was a dick move on my company's part.

I texted my manager about how now I looked like an asshole for being so worried, when it really was fine in the morning... but she actually sent me a really reassuring text back. Basically just that no, they were the ones being assholes, lol. But with the valid point that my plan was ALWAYS to come to work and stay if the roads were clear - if they HAD approved our coverage plan, it would have been functionally identical to what my day looked like today, because I would have stayed since the roads were okay. (I'd assumed they'd be getting bad, as was forecast at the time, but if they'd been clear, I wouldn't have bailed.) But instead of being willing to be flexible, to say "hey, we want you to come in and work the whole day if possible, but IF it starts to get dangerous, we'll figure out what's best for everyone", they went straight to implicit threats.

So I went in, and I worked. I left about 20 minutes early (meaning my day was still over 8 hours), because my manager was the one taking me home, and she wanted to be home and off the roads before dark. I stayed through the end of the class, so everything in-center was done.
Less than five minutes after I clocked out, I got a *flurry* of emails from the third-in-command of the company demanding I do stuff... which to me felt like it was ABSOLUTELY a gotcha to try and prove I was skipping out. I followed up with the (really not pressing) tasks as soon as I got home, so... whatever. If they're pissed about it, I guess I'll find out.

It sounds like I *am* okay to not go in tomorrow, weather and roads dependent. IF we get the 1-3 feet of snow overnight that's still being forecast (and the snow has definitely gotten heavy and started to stick to the roads), then I will not be going in. If it craps out the way it did today, then I will. Though tbh, if I don't go in, I feel like it'll be held over my head forever, even though we were told it was okay, since we don't have anything happening in our center.

I'm glad everything worked out, but that sounds really sucktastic of your workplace.
