Writing Goals/Calendar:

A little belated for a September writing goals post! But here we are. It's going to feel way too soon when I do October's if I do it closer to on time...

January through March was a dead zone where I did very little. In April I focused on an editing project for a friend. May was devoted to finishing my lingering fic project from the previous August. June and July were the beginning of me trying to get my various fic (both fan- and original-) ideas sorted out, so I can begin to figure out what I want to work on.

- Select which fics I planned to start outlining, with the intent of actually working on them/writing them within the foreseeable future.
I had already gotten the fic ideas mostly sorted out, so it wasn't much more to just pick the top ideas I was most interested in. I did pick eight to focus on for now.

- Do for my original fics what I'd already done for the fanfics, writing up my thoughts on them, and using that to narrow down which ones I wanted to focus on.
I did do this! I even mostly got it done in August... though finished the last few in September.

- Do more complete outlines of at least a few of the fanfics.
I did not do this.

- Continue being glad that I didn't have AUgust on my plate this year.
Haha, very glad I wasn't trying to do any super intense challenges this year.

Goals for September:

- Finish the fic narrow-down.
(I've already done this, where I wrote up some of the "whys" in terms of what I decided to put on the back burner vs. what I plan to move forward with. I haven't posted the narrow-down stuff, but I mean to.)
- Finish the original work narrow-down.
(Currently in progress, in terms of the "whys.")
- Get some outlines started for the fanfic, or maybe the original fic, depending on interest.
- Post the narrow-down process for posterity.

Goals for October and beyond:

- Get more outlining done. As many of the fics and original stories as I can. (I also recognize that it's very possible I'll need to switch away from the outlining before it's done... Ideally, I want to get the outlines done, so that I'm able to start on the actual *writing* for any of these stories that I want to, whenever I want to. However... outlining that many things back to back could really easily bog me down, so I may need to do a smaller number and then switch to writing, and come back to outline more later.)
- Start on the rough drafts for at least one or two things.

I am definitely behind where I'd hoped to be, but for the last month or so, the whole process has felt better. I've been more excited about writing/more interested in doing it. (It's something I look forward to doing some of, rather than something I have to force myself to do.) So even though there's not a lot of tangible progress, and I have to keep pushing things onto the next month, the next month... it's hard to be mad about it when it feels like a lot less of a miserable grind than it has for a while. (Now we'll see if it stays that way once I get into specific projects, ha.)
