Douchey day at work, but dog pics make it better?

The snow stayed very heavy for most of yesterday. Our morning jaunt outside with the dog was when we had maybe a foot or so of snow. The late afternoon/evening trip outside involved significantly deeper snow.

It went from about knee-high to a pitbull to chest-high to a pitbull!

Breaking a trail was a little more difficult this time. (I love how high he's trying to step, lol.)

And the blowing snow streaking across his face adds to how sad he looks about it.

The spot where he decided that was enough of that.

Aaaaand we're coming back now.

We got a bit more snow after that, I think with a total of around two feet.

(The rest is bitching.)

This morning just about none of the snow had been removed from around the garage. So I was supposed to get in to work, and we promptly got stuck in the back lot. Nothing had been plowed, the snow was piled 2+ feet over sheet ice from the rain that happened before the snow. And then there was a tow truck blocking the alley, and the maintenance crew didn't try to plow anything, but did knock over a dumpster outside the garage.

Alex got snarly about it, because he didn't want to drive in it, and I was afraid if we went back to the garage (which was also hard, with the fallen dumpster blocking it) he wouldn't be willing to try to go out again. My manager couldn't come get me because so many people weren't in at all, so she couldn't be off the phones that long... it all just sucked. (We were snarly at each other a bit, mostly because we were both mad about the situation in general.) We finally got out of our neighborhood, and then were almost wiped out by an absolute SHITHEAD driving the wrong way down a divided road, so that was cool.

We eventually made it, and I was only about half an hour late. Alex waited for a couple hours in the parking lot in the hopes that things would clear up some. (Apparently the roads got better, but they still hadn't done anything to our property, so getting into the garage was still difficult.)

So a few of the centers were completely unstaffed today, which I get, as a few areas had closer to 30 inches, and even the plows couldn't get through until midday today. BUT. The entire corporate staff decided to work from home! Which is just fine for them apparently! Because the roads were bad! It would be dangerous to come in!

I could scream.

And then they wanted to be assholes about the Arvada support person not coming into the corporate office for the evening portion of her shift - that same location that they all claimed was too dangerous to get to.

Fuck them.

Alex texted me in the afternoon saying he'd been having chest pains, and couldn't tell whether it was anxiety or something like a heart attack. I told him to go to the ER, but he decided it was probably just anxiety. Certainly better than a heart attack, though not any fun.

So he didn't want to come get me in the evening. I had to take a Lyft home, but since there were a lot of people who didn't want to drive in the snow waiting for rideshares, it meant I had to wait for about 40 minutes after my shift was over and pay about $30 to get home, which sucked. (The driver was nice - we talked about horrible diseases.)

I'm pretty fed up with it all, tbh.

That is completely shitty. I'm sorry.

I hope Alex is feeling better

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear it was so much worse today. And then all the management decided not to come in. It sounds like tomorrow you don't try to go in either, and cite the examples of the management as excuse.

I really hope Alex is okay!

I'm glad he's feeling better! I'm sorry that you're so ill you're going to have to take a few days off work until the roads are properly opened again, but being forced out into subzero temperatures will do that to a person. I bet there are lots of people being struck down with surprise pneumonia right now!

Thank goodness for that. You seem to be having a terrible time at the moment. I'm so sorry! *Hugs*

Oh gods, hon, I'm so sorry. That sounds like a shitty af day, and you didn't deserve any of it. Does any of Alex's disability or whatever help to cover rent? Surely, you're not paying it all on your own and working your ass off. I get why he was pissy, but...it's not like you have a say in whether or not you go, especially since it sounds like your paycheck is covering everything.

Hopefully it would be better. Your job is an asshole, and at least, you've got one boss who's a good person. The rest should choke.

Catching up: OMG, your bosses sound like total asses! I'm sorry this was such an all 'round shitty day. But yay for dog pics! I lol'd at the look on his face and deciding enough was enough. *g*
