My favorite pictures from 2024

Welp, it sure is almost the end of the year.

I was planning on sharing a "Top Ten" favorite pictures, then remembered that last year I did fifteen... so fifteen it is again!

Well... thirteen of mine, plus two "honorable mentions" that Alex took, but that were definitely among my favorites of the year.

As with last year, there's pretty obvious theming: it's almost all my dogs or various insects, usually with flowers. (There is also one spider, and one frog.)

May 20, a neighborhood park

It's Cy!

And Bella!

(Not technically amazing, but pictures that I like of both of them.)

June 03, the Denver Botanic Gardens

Butterfly on blooming tree.

June 10, Hudson Gardens

Definitely one of my favorites, a very flashy bold jumping spider.

June 18, the Denver Zoo

A monarch butterfly on milkweed.

June 23, a neighborhood park

A bumblebee in flight, with dramatic pollen saddlebags. (And on the flowers you can see that, yes, the pollen really IS that bright orange.)

July 16, a neighborhood park

A really interesting bee on a coneflower. (The light white body color! The super long antennae!)

July 29, a county park

A leopard frog! I was so excited to see them.

September 09, a neighborhood park

A praying mantis, posing so perfectly!

A green sweat bee! I don't see them all that often and it's very hard to get good pictures of them, so I was glad to get one. (Even though it isn't perfect.)

October 01, a neighborhood park

Bees on asters!

October 08, Hudson Gardens

A bee on a rose.

October 14, Estes Park

A silly entry, but I just love how perfectly this caught Bella's ridiculous expression.

And the two honorable mentions that Alex took:

May 11, up toward the northeastern plains:

The auroras.

July 04, a city park:

The dogs, looking so happy in the sun.
