Misc stuff:
Today was at least less of a miserable slog. Still overly busy with too much to do, and no ability to anything extra, but I did get caught up with the things that I had to punt from yesterday.
Still no news of the instructor who didn't come in this week. It feels just really unlike him, so I'm more worried as time goes by, but also don't know how I'd find out anything.

I think my original plan today was to figure out my TBR list for this year, because... well, rather than shrinking, it's definitely grown! But I don't think I have quite the brain power for that tonight. Though maybe I can at least start to read something.
I also need to sit down and look at my writing plan again. December was sort of a wash on that front, but we were busy enough with other things that it doesn't bother me too much.

For the first time in a while it actually feels like winter, and was snowing as I left work. (Though about a mile or so away from my office, there was a very stark line between where it had snowed and where it had not.)
We have a lot of fog, which is a nicely spooky atmospheric setting...~just like Silent Hill~ I promise to not say every single time but unfortunately it is very cold and it sucks.
They STILL have not fixed our heat. I don't think Alex followed up with them when he was supposed to. Understandable when he was sick. My mom loaned us a space heater, so now I'm afraid he just feels like it isn't urgent because the space heater is nicely efficient. I can call them, but it'll have to wait until Monday. The space heater, plus the fact that we're on an upper floor and heat rises, has kept it from getting too cold, but dammit, they still need to get it fixed!

Still no freaking heat?!! That's ridiculous! Want me to call and berate them? Seriously, it's easier for me to call on someone else's behalf than my own, lol!

We got heat back! Today! I spoke to the apparently new property manager - on her first day; I didn't know we were getting a new manager - and she put the order in while I was waiting there. So that was nice.
(Ha, the "mom friend" hack! I'm the same way - I hate calling for help with things, or complaining about an incorrect order, but when it happens to a friend, suddenly I am ready to jump in!)

But ugh, no kidding. It was maybe 15 minutes? They did think it was going to be a bigger issue (apparently they don't have this model in many apartments, and sometimes they just throw an error and that means they have to be replaced entirely.) They ran through all the usual thermostat resets and kept saying "well, it should be fixed!" only for it to keep blowing cold air, ha. Luckily it was ultimately fixed (fingers crossed it stays that way) by resetting the breaker. Which was better than having to deal with a unit replacement, but is also annoying because we could have done that! At least we know what to try next time.

:( I hope you hear something soon!

AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! WTF, people??? I'm glad you have the space heater, but aargh!

Still nothing on the missing instructor. :(
We FINALLY got our heat back... TODAY. We apparently got a brand new manager (she just started today), but I went to the office and asked her, and she put the work order in while I was in there and they came by a few hours later.

Ack. :( Keep us posted, I guess?
And thank goodness for FINALLY having heat again! I hope the new manager continues to be prompt and competent once the new-job shine wears off.

We'll see how long she's here - allegedly they purposely change out the management every 4 or 6 months to ensure that none of the managers get "too friendly" with the residents, which just seems like a dick move to me. But we've had some good ones and some terrible ones, so fingers crossed for her to be a good one to deal with as long as we have her!

That's a terrible policy! >.< But hopefully this one remains good and they keep her there as long as possible.

Though this week it's fallen below the emergency temperatures, pretty significantly, and once I told the new apartment manager (who just started this week) she submitted the request and they were out within a few hours. So they did at least get a move on it quickly the most recent time!
