Broccoli Cheddar Bomb ate one cricket, lol. The rest are still in there, but at least he's eaten something.
And it's snowing again. :/ This time the storm warning calls for anywhere from 5-13 inches, so... we'll see what winds up happening. I'd really rather it just... not.
As much as my upcoming trip to New Mexico is a bittersweet one, I am really looking forward to just being away from work for a bit. It's only four days off of work (Weds, then Thurs-Friday would be my usual weekend, then Sat-Sun, and Mon taking off to get a covid test.) But that's still *almost* a week away from work. Of course I would gladly suffer through my regular work schedule if it meant my grandmother's health wasn't in danger, but I'll be so glad to see her. And my aunt, who I haven't seen in even longer. I'll also keep hoping that this is one of many more future visits!
Work is very much burning me out, which is probably obvious.
This job HAS done very kind things for me - back at the end of 2019, they gave me a *significant* raise solely because I was in a position where I couldn't afford the employer-offered health insurance (they cover 50%), but because it was offered, I didn't qualify for the subsidized ACA plans. They gave me a raise of enough to cover my healthcare premiums so that I could opt into it. The high deductible means I still haven't ever used that coverage (eesh), but knowing I HAVE it and am at least *less* fucked if something happens means a lot.
But then they also pull bullshit like the "we literally do not care about your safety - get to work or else you're getting written up" nonsense.
(Oh, and that flurry of tasks I said felt like an attempted "gotcha" to make sure I was there until the end of the day last Saturday? Definitely was that. I didn't hear anything about it, but they did the same thing to another support last Monday, because she'd asked to leave due to the weather, and the request was denied. She didn't respond to the task they sent right at the end of her shift (at around 8:45) and the next morning they asked our mutual manager to write her up for leaving early. Turns out she HAD taken care of the task and stayed until 9 - the sent items in her email showed that - but she just hadn't replied to their email to tell them she'd done it.)

I hope your trip is as good as it can be. It's great to get away sometimes.
That's a terrible position to be in with work, and grateful for a raise just to not be screwed out of healthcare.

And definitely. I wish it were for 100% positive reasons that we were going, and I wish it didn't involve traveling such a distance while still dealing with pandemic things, but I'm still looking forward to it.
I know, right? I appreciate that it doesn't seem to just be me thinking they're being kind of terrible about things. I *am* grateful to them, but it's also a sad damn statement that I'm in the position where I need to be, y'know?

When I read about you still getting snow I feel like you must be in some kind of parallel dimension. Then I remember that we got snow the end of April last year (and broke our trees *cries*).
I hope you manage to have a nice trip despite the circumstances.
Your employer sounds like a right bloody idjit. (I wanted to say something much worse.)

Statistically, March is the snowiest month in my area, though the last few years have been pretty dry. But I *really* wish spring would show up and stick around. (I am glad the trees haven't leafed out yet, since this snow has all been the heavy kind that would absolutely break branches!)
Thank you, I hope so as well. It'll be nice to see them!
They're extra frustrating lately, and I appreciate the fact that it doesn't seem like it's just me thinking they're being shitty, ha.
