Last Tuesday: Denver Botanic Gardens (Part 2)

Continuing with the trip through the Denver Botanic Gardens from last week!


A very nice clematis, hiding away a bit.


A Persian jewel, extra bejeweled by the rain.


Another really nice columbine. This color makes me think of strawberry lemonade.

We headed up the paths behind the Ellipse, toward the "romance gardens" and the "fragrance gardens."


A more classic, blue and white Colorado columbine.


I believe this is elderflower.

Looking back towards the Ellipse and the house, with the irises, roses, pines...


The picture does not quite do justice to just how big this iris was. It was huge, and smelled wonderful.


These poppies were really neat, with the sort of ruffled edges.


Itty bitty tadpoles! I think these are toad tadpoles.

The little squirrel looked so young. And I'm always excited by ladybugs.

The Persian jewels are such pretty flowers, and the rain really looked striking on them.

The rain really adds drama! Wow, columbines are so pretty - that one really does say strawberry lemonade :D

The rain added so much drama! I was really glad for how neat it made things look, when I was at first really apprehensive about it. It ended up being a bonus! I do love columbines - they're our state flower, though specifically the blue and white ones. It is such a strawberry lemonade color combo, though, right?

I love taking photos of flowers with water droplets on them. All of those are just stunning! I don't think I've ever seen a Persian jewel before - GUH.

It's so rare that I have a chance to really get pictures while the water is still there. Typically the water evaporates basically as soon as the rain stops, so it was actually really nice to have it stick around for long enough to get pictures of.

Persian jewels are beautiful! I don't know that I'd ever seen them (at least that I remember) before a few years ago, and I think only at the botanic gardens. They're really striking, though.
