Another FastCAT for Bella!
Alex took Bella to another FastCAT today. :) Today was much cooler, only around 60°, though it was relatively humid.

She did great, but Alex said she was very tired after.

Her times were very good!
I think these are the best combined times she's ever had; the 10+ second one isn't her fastest, but most of the time if she has one run in that range, the other one is more like 13 or 14 seconds, so having the second one be 11+ is very good for her! (I still hope that someday she breaks 10 seconds, ha. Though I remember when I wasn't sure if she'd ever be faster than about a 15, lol.)

Immediate nap in the car.
AC still not fixed, but yesterday they did come by and were able to acknowledge that yes, it's not working, actually! They were supposed to come fix it today, but came by while Alex was gone. They left a note asking us to clean up the stuff stored along the same wall as the AC, and then they'll come replace the unit on Monday, so I'm guessing they were unable to fix the current one.
That "third party" maintenance triage company we have to use is 100% AI. Alex looked the company up, and they're based in India, providing solely "AI-powered" responses. Hence it being utterly useless, I suppose.
I was wrong about the name of the AI bot that's supposed to be "helping" us with rent reminders. It's "Westley," not "Ryan," but the point remains. "Westley" sent Alex yet another, different amount for the rent owed this month. When Alex again asked for clarification, "Westley" confirmed the lowest, new amount. We joked that maybe if we just keep delaying, it'll drop down to nothing.
The bot eventually said that we were given a $100 discount for a single month because we just signed a new 12-month lease, but they never mentioned that to us before or during or after the lease signing, and the physical bill was the old amount. And anyway, the newest number "Westley" gave us is close, but still about $20 off from the previous "discounted" amount "he" quoted us. Like, I wouldn't turn down a discount for a month, I'd love a free $100, but... wtf.
I've been fighting off some kind of crud for a couple days now. Woke up with a sore throat yesterday and started feeling worse (though still mildly) throughout the day. Today felt about the same as yesterday, so at least it's not getting steeply worse! Unfortunately I've got at least one coworker with covid, and multiple coworkers with allegedly non-covid crud. Trying my best to avoid it and lysol everything at every chance I get.
Slept a bit extra yesterday, and while I'm going to try and get some more stuff done tonight, it's possible I'll lose this evening to a nap again, ha.

The whole AI thing to get maintenance is just... such a crappy idea. I can't think of any time that it would really speed up the process, because instead it just forces an extra middleman into the conversation, one who inherently cannot understand the request.
And the rental thing is really annoying! Weirdly, it sounds like the lower amount was correct, even though the higher amount was what showed on our "official" statement, so part of the issue is actual human incompetence rather than just the AI, but it's also still been extremely confusing to try and deal with.

I'm just shaking my head at the AC situation. And that they're using yet AI for the triage!
Love that your rent price just keeps getting lower. I think the owner/management company will soon realize that AI might be costing them more money than its saving.
I hope you don't get super sick! Being just a little bit sick sucks donkey balls. I use the zinc stuff. I've been told it doesn't work, but it seems to help, even if it's just in my mind.

The AC thing is so annoying, though hopefully it's nearly done. The AI thing was really the frustrating part.
Right? We'll see how long the rental AI sticks around. It sounds like maybe the lower amount was the correct one, so perhaps it was old-fashioned human incompetence that caused the multiple amounts, but it's so difficult to get a straight answer, especially when talking to a bot.
I seem to be successfully fighting off The Crud! Trying to load up on Emergen-C, which I think is the same sort of placebo effect for me, haha.

Well...progress? Ugh. (*insert much swearing about all the AI crap*)
Yay, Bella!

The AI stuff has been very frustrating to have to deal with, but at least things are maybe making progress, ha.

Good job, Bella!!

Yay, Bella! I'm glad she got to go out and do stuff before we had some really smoky days.

There's definitely a ton of crap going around, especially now that school is back in session.
I haven't gotten my flu shot yet, though I hope to soon. Having to wait and find out if I can get a covid shot or not. Initially the federal guideline was no, because I'm not high-risk; then Colorado said that anyone can get it, but you have to get a prescription, which I can't because I can't afford to go to a doctor; then just a couple days later they said that anyone can get it at the pharmacy... but now I don't know if my insurance will cover it or not, so I need to find out about *that*, because I can't afford it out of pocket. Once I find that out, then I'll get the flu and hopefully my covid vax.
But yes, happy Bella got to go do things!
The AC will allegedly get replaced tomorrow... hopefully so, because we are back to the upper 80s and 90s for this week. I prefer warm, but we're also on the 6th floor, so lots of heat to rise.

I'm glad they at leas acknowledge that it's broken. That bot would drive me up a wall.
I hope you feel better soon and it's not Covid.

At least agreeing that the AC is broken is progress! I'm super fed up with the bot thing, though.
Luckily I seem to be recovering from the crud pretty fast! Definitely don't want covid again, and hopefully it keeps getting better.

Good to hear, hopefully the crud is gone soon!

Of course they're using AI to diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues now, because why not? Scathing sarcasm and my bewildered hatred of business management degrees aside, bloody hell I hope this gets resolved quickly and smoothly, and with a real live human being that knows their arse from a hole in the ground...
This whole rent/maintenance AI situation is triggering my chaotic evil side wondering if there isn't a comically witty way to use AI to mess with either of these AI systems and drive home a "very important lesson" for whatever C-Suite assholes thought this was a brilliant idea... Hm.
ETA: Ack - forgot to add the following, but, I truly hope you're feeling much, if not entirely better now by this comment's posting? We did have some gnarly smoke and horrid air quality which may have been contributing/making things worse possibly? Either way - feel better!!!

Ugh, the AI stuff was so obnoxious to deal with. It took way too much back and forth before we finally got an actual person to deal with it. Still took them a couple tries, but eventually it all got sorted out!
Though for real. I desperately want to find a way to at least weaponize the AI back against them, haha.
And thank you! I luckily seemed to avoid any of the major crud that was going around my office. (And there's been quite the variety pack of plague.) I'm sorry to hear you got smacked by the mystery sick!
