Maybe not *quite* too many writing projects:
Today was ~laundry day~, so most of the day was spent at the laundromat. Still haven't quite made it over the hurdle of getting it all put away, but at least stuff is clean.
While waiting for the laundry I started Angel of the Overpass, though I'm only a few pages in, and I did some by-hand brainstorming about the various fics I'm wanting to write this month.
Someone in one of the writing communities suggested trying to blend the prompts, to see if I could write one fic for multiple things on the list, but I wasn't sure if any would work. BUT! I think I can make my mermay fic fit for the Whatif AU "Triple Threat". It requires a wee bit of stretching the AU categories, but fits for "Ocean" and "Magic", and with a little nudging it suits the "Stranded/Lost" category, since it's a rescue mission for a merman being held captive. (Could also stretch it to the fairy tale AU, maybe, but it's not really a fairy tale in and of itself. Just has mermaids.) So hooray for that!
That at least knocks it from four things to three:
- The second draft of All Strange Wonders, which has between 10k and 12k to go.
- The Whatif AU/Mermay fic. The first one was just over 5k, so I'd aim for something similar, probably.
- The Unconventional Courtship fic. Still haven't picked a summary, but this one could be completed in early June. 1k is the minimum, but I struggle with keeping things that short, lol.
So... looking at the month like "I probably have about 20k to write in just over two more weeks" feels a little more manageable than when I was just thinking "finish four fics? I can't finish four fics!"
I already hit just under 1200 words for today on All Strange Wonders, and hit a good break point at the end of a chapter. But after dinner I think I'll try to get the untitled mermay fic outlined.
