I finally put in my PTO request for next month! I keep forgetting to nail down dates, so the acceptable time keeps getting pushed back, since I have to give four weeks notice to take the time.

But I'll officially be off (assuming it gets approved, which it should) from August 22-31, and I am very excited at the prospect of a whole ten days away.

We can't afford a real vacation, but we'll probably try to go do some stuff around Colorado. Have to pick WHAT, but it'll be good.

This upcoming "weekend" I'm planning to go hang out at Taylor's house again, so I'm looking forward to that, as well.

I'm back to that point with work burnout where I need to kind of set the little "just have to make it to _____" goals so that I don't completely lose it. Summer is always stressful, so it's not completely unexpected, but that doesn't make it more fun to deal with.

Thank you! I think we've got a few good ideas (though we may have to come up with some plan B options, in case some of the areas we want to go to are on fire again.)

I kept getting denied vacation and and reached the maximum number of days. I took 4 weeks off (almost all of) last December. I still got called with questions, but being separated from a workplace I pretty much despise for almost a month was wonderful. Take advantage of the 10 days!

Ugh, I HATE when companies deny the time off, but that makes it kind of hilarious when they fuck themselves and have to give you a whole damn month. Mine usually doesn't straight up deny requests unless they're for holidays, but they DO have a bunch of arbitrary rules and *discourage* you from taking it for large swathes of the year. Like an airline with blackout dates that leave you with two possible travel weeks ever.
Last year I managed to wind up with quite a bit of time I had to use at the end of the year, so I just took three- and four-day weekends for most of November and December. Not quite a month off, but still pretty nice.

It's amazing what being away from a shitty job can do for you.

My supervisor absolutely hates me, and the feeling is mutual. He was promoted over me even though he had no experience in the 4 areas under him (and I had/have considerable). I told him flat out when he got the position - I could be an obstructionist which will serve no purpose other than limited self-satisfaction, or we could find a way to make this work. He seemed ok with that until he started inventing things I did wrong (which I then had to document and make him look the bigger fool with his supervisor and HR, which snowballed). So yeah, I'll be happy when I find another job, but in the meantime taking large amounts of time off at once is my goal.

It sucks when you work under someone you hate. That sounds like a shitty situation to be in. My manager (who I fortunately do get along with) and I have multiple times had to document someone else's bullshit in order to protect ourselves from fabricated issues, so I know how that goes. It's a garbage war of escalations to have to fight. But I hope you get a very large chunk of time off so that you can be away from it all!
